I see so many people throwing roadblocks into their own path which inhibits progress. I wonder, why do you think that might be?

I think that happens in consequence of of lack of self believe. We don't have self trust in our capacities, and we assume that we aren't going to make it... One consequence of it, is self sabotage like placing "roadblocks" in their path
I think you've said it really well and have highlighted one of the main reasons.
