The Tank I Knew I Was Good At ~ Overwatch 2 | New Season Play - Gold III League
Hello, gamers of Hive. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle that I played recently and absolutely dominated the field with a character that most players don't use. This was a ranked game in this new season of Overwatch 2 where we finally have the hero-banning system. No more annoying and sudden switches to characters that some may consider as a counter.
Without further ado, let's begin!
The Choose And Ban Phase
As a tank, I prefer Sigma. I didn't know which map we would be playing in but this character offers survivability and versatile abilities.
For the banning phase, the three annoying characters would be Reaper, Sombra, and Mercy. You see, my survivability helps me retain HP, hence I don't need Mercy. So, if I could get Mercy banned, their healing count would decrease. Sombra is a highly annoying character and could mess up my perfectly timed ultimate and Reaper is the perfect counter for most tanks, including the one I selected. Those are my choices.
Somehow, I got both Sombra and Mercy banned. They banned Zarya and Widowmaker. A good exchange IMO even though I main Zarya.
The Map and Rank
The map is at Junkertown and I recognised no players here. The rank is from Gold V to Gold II. I hoped for good healers in ranked games because you would suffer the entire game if they were bad.
The first round ended with 2 minutes left on the clock and I was leading the lobby in all aspects: kills, low death counts, damage done, and damage mitigated. My weapon accuracy was a tad bit higher than half and direct hit accuracy was higher than 1/3rd which was very good for my standard XD.
They couldn't get past the second push location, so the round ended shortly. I had 21 kills and a death count of 4, and my overall stats rose by over 27k,
By the end of the round, I led the lobby with a staggering 50k stats and 43 kills.
Play of The Game
Unsurprisingly, I was given the POTG because of my kill streak that ended with an Ultimate move in the first round, in the third phase near their base.
