Today, I will share a battle that helped me reach Diamond I this last season. This time it took much effort to reach it as the players were extremely tough and my winning streak was equal to my losing streak, that way my overall rating change was 0 with a high Glint balance. But, thanks to my strategies and monster selection, the dream to reach Diamond 1 was realized.

Thankfully, this battle falls under the Social Media Challenge, a celebrated event that takes place weekly among the players in the Splinterladns community where everyone showcases their best/bloodiest battle.

Without further ado, let's begin.

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 47 and there are 3 summoners to choose from: Fire, Life, and Death. With such a huge mana cap, any summoner could be used to make an amazing deck. I went with the death summoner since it has some amazing debuffs. My opposition also went with the death summoner.

Battle Rules:-

• Weak Magic: Magic attacks hit armour before reducing health.
• Back To Basics: Monsters lose all abilities.
• Rise of the commons: Only monsters that are common and rare may be used in battle.

Battle Details

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)

Tank: Night Ghoul(No Ability).

Blocked Melee Attackers: Cursed Windeku(No Ability).

Magic Attacker: Life Sapper(No Ability).

Ranged Attackers: Queen Of Crows(No Ability), Dhampir Stalker(No Ability), Gargoya Devil(No Ability).

My strategy was to have the higher HP monsters in the front, that way my ranged attackers with the highest damage would survive longer and in turn, do more damage. I used Life Sapper after the Queen because I had no other monster to place who would do damage. As such, I wanted to have the highest damage possible even after losing my melee attackers.

My overall damage per round is 16. Should my tank fall, it would come down to 14 damage per round.

Now for the opposition's turn.

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)

Melee Attacker: Cursed Windeku(No Ability).

Non-Attacker: Ulundin Overseer(No Ability).

Magic Attacker: Helheim Demon(No Ability).

Ranged Attackers: Dhampir Stalker(No Ability), Daigendark Hunter(No Ability), Soul Strangler(No ability).

His strategy was exactly similar to mine. There was one small change, he used a non-attacker behind his tank. Apart from that, everything was the same.

His overall damage per round was 12 per round.

Major Events

Both summoners reduced each other's overall damage by 1.

The first monster to fall in the first half of the first round, was his tank, making it a 5 v 6 and instantly decreasing his overall damage to 9 per round.

In the last half of the second round, my tank fell and instantly decreased my overall damage to 13 per round. It was also a 5 v 5 now.

At the start of the 3rd round, his non-attacker fell, marking a dreadful outcome should his magic attacker fall.

And just after 3 turns, his magic attacker fell, thus his overall damage decreased to 5 per round.

At the end of the 3rd round, my tank fell and my smol magic attacker came out in front.

Half of the 4th round went by and his final attacker could attack no longer.

And, at the end of the 4th round, his final attacker fell and thus I got the victory.

Results

His key mistake was that he did not use a monster that had an attacking potential behind his tank. That way, after his tank fell his overall damage fell by a massive amount. Mantaroth could been a good one to use instead of Ulundin for him, that way he might have had a better chance to win and might've taken the W.
