Today, I shall share a battle that is both noteworthy and has reached the requirement issued for the event of Battle Mage secrets. It is not your generic melee attackers with insanely high damage; it has acutely positioned ranged and magic attackers that both me and the opposition placed with much thought.

Without further ado, let's begin.

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 39 and there are 4 summoners available: Fire, Water, Death, and Dragon. For such a huge mana, anyone could make an amazing Water or Dragon deck but I chose Death Summoner and its legions of the cursed and so did my opposition!

Battle Rules:-

  • Keep your distance: Melee attackers may not be used in battle.
  • Ferocity: All monsters have the fury ability.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in Hp and Magic Damage by 1 for all enemy monsters) (level 5)

Tank: Queen Of Crows(Ability: Close Range, Headwinds).

Non-attackers: Will-O-Wisp(Ability: Flying, Weaken), Rifwing(Ability: Flying, Scavenge, Backfire).

Ranged Attackers: Zyriel(Ability: Weapon Training, Life Leech, Divine Shield), Weirding Warrior(Ability: Shatter), Dhampur Stalker(Ability: True Strike, Deathblow).

My strategy was to use the non-attackers with my Zyriel while my real prize was at the end of my deck. I wanted to use Stalker's deathblow as it could do the most damage when his deck would have only 1 monster and also that his being alive guarantees damage of 4 while other monsters may miss their targets. I used Weirding Warrior as it can shatter an enemy shield completely. My tank would have the highest HP thus it should survive 2 rounds.

My overall damage per round is 11 per round. Adding in Zyriel's ability, it comes to 17 per round with a 2HP increase and an overall decrease in HP thanks to Will-O-Wisp's ability.

Now, for the opposition's turn:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic Damage by 1 for all enemy monsters) (level 5).

Tank: Will-O-Wisp(Ability: Flying, Weaken).

Ranged Attackers: Gargoya Devil(Ability: Flying, Close-Range, Deathblow), Ravenhood Warden(Ability: Protect, Inspire), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: True Strike), Lira The Dark(Ability: Opportunity, Snare).

Magic Attackers: Venari Bonesmith(Ability: Life Leech, Poison).

He used Lira's high speed and damage on my weakest monster while his Bonesmith would inflict poison damage on my tank. He kept Will-O-Wisp in the front as it had the most HP for him. He used Warden to provide protection to all his monsters from potential ranged attacks.

His overall damage is 12 per round with a 1 HP increase from life leech. Adding in the damage from the poison damage, it increases to 14 damage per round and an overall decrease in HP thanks to Will-O-Wisp's ability.

Major Events

Round 1

Screenshot (493).png

The game began at the 12th turn thanks to a plethora of abilities. Thanks to my Queen of Crows, his overall damage was reduced by 4.

Yet, the first one to also die in that turn is my Weirding Warrior; thankfully, his monsters didn't have that huge amount of shield.

Screenshot (494).png

His first monster to fall was his Will-O-Wisp and so all my monsters get an HP back, that's a 5HP increase.

Round 2

Screenshot (495).png

His next monster fell in the first half of the second round thanks to Riftwing. His Bonesmith inflicts poison on my Queen.

Screenshot (496).png

The thing that I was most afraid of, my Zyriel missed its mark and hence it had the chance to attack again in the next round.

Round 3

Screenshot (497).png

My Queen died at the start of the round and his remaining ranged attackers gained 1 damage. This his overall damage rose to 6 while mine was at 11.
His Bonesmith was deleted and so his ranged attacker was useless at the front.

Screenshot (498).png

His Warden was taken care of in the last third of the 3rd round so only one of his monsters could attack.

Round 4

Screenshot (499).png

Lira aimed directly at my Zyriel at the start of the 4th round and so it came down to a 3 v 2.

Screenshot (500).png

His Stalker bites the dust and so it turns into a one-sided battle.

Round 5

Screenshot (501).png

And the thing that I had been waiting for since the start of the game, was to view the deathblow in action.

Results

I somehow anticipated that the opposition would use Thaddius Brood as did he. I did not use any monster with magic damage while he only used a monster with magic damage of 1. That way, neither of our monsters lost their damage to the summoner's ability.
Imagine if he had used monsters with the Last Stand ability, then, deathblow would be the perfect counter. If that monster had self-heal, then it would truly be GG for me.
