Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you all are doing well.

Today, I will share a battle in the modern Gold III League where I had the opportunity to show off my monsters' prowess in battle. The better strategist won in this neck-to-neck battle using keen strategy and placements.

Without further ado, let's begin!

Battle Conditions

Capture.PNG

The mana cap is 40 and there are 4 summoners to choose from: Water, Nature, Life, and Dragon.

Battle Rules:-

  • Ferocity: All units deal double damage if the unit has taunt ability.
  • Reach: All melee units can attack from the second position.
  • Stampede: Can attack again if the unit with trample ability defeats a unit.

Keeping the huge mana cap, available summoners, and battle rules in mind, I decided to go with the summoner that would grant me the ability to use a monster with bloodlust ability and further provide a protective dome for all of my monsters. That way, I would have a high chance to get his monsters down and out in a drawn-out battle. That is the life summoner.

Let's start the deck deconstruction from my side:

Summoner: Franz Ruffmane(Ability: Increase in Shield for all ally units and grants the usage of 1 gladiator unit)(Level 2).

Tank: Imperial Knight(Ablity: Void Armour).

Blocked Melee Attackers: Disintegrator(Ability: Demoralize).

Melee Attackers: Uraeus(Ability: Sneak).

Ranged Attackers: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr), War Pegasus(Ability: Flying, Shatter).

Magic Attacker: Captain Katie(Ability: Snipe, Bloodlust).

My strategy was to stall enough rounds for Captain Katie to trigger her bloodlust ability and increase her overall stats and thus get her to supercharge and one-hit all monsters. To further allow the stats boost, I placed Marksrat in front of her so that should all the units fall, she would get one last boost. Since there was a huge mana cap, I chose a few units that had a good chance to try and eliminate a few of their units as well. The tank I chose had an overall of 15 HP and used a unit that would decrease the incoming melee damage per melee attacker by 1. At the end of the deck, I used a unit with flying ability and had high-speed; the perfect combo to deter any incoming attacks from sneak attackers... if the game mechanics favours me.

My overall damage per round is 12. After Marksrat fell, my overall damage would increase by 1.

Now for the opposition's turn:

Summoner: Keyla Frendul(Ability: Increase in Shield and Speed by 1 for all ally units)(Level 2 Gold Foil)

Tank: DiemonShark(Ability: Trample).

Melee Attackers: Flying Squid(Ability: Reach), Deeplurker(Ability: Opportunity).

Blocked Melee Attacker: Cruel Sethropod(No Ability).

Ranged Attackers: Supply Runner(No Ability), Kulu Swimhunter(No Abiliy)

His strategy was to heavily attack me from the front while targeting my weakest link. To allow his ranged attackers to continue their attacks, he used a blocked melee attacker in front of them. The tank he chose had a huge shield with HP, making it a formidable opposition, and used a melee attacker to support in dealing damage to my tank. He used no special attacker in his deck apart from the Deeplurker that would target a monster in my deck with the lowest Hp and slowly chip away until it fell and it would then move to the next target. That way, he purely focused on doing damage and not on ability.

His overall damage per round is 12.

Major Events

His overall damage was reduced by 3 thanks to the demoralize ability of Disintegrator in the first round.

Round 2

Screenshot (555).png

The first unit to fall in the first half was my Uraeus thanks to the Depplurker*. My tank's HP was low while his tank was taking it easy.

At the start of the second half, his Supply Runner met its end thanks to Captain Katie. This was the first time she had triggered bloodlust and gained the stats boost.

Round 3

Screenshot (557).png

At the start of the round, my tank fell thanks to his tank.

Round 4

Screenshot (560).png

At the start of the first half of the round, his tank finally kicked the bucket making it a 3 v 4 to my advantage.

Screenshot (561).png

A few turns later, my Marksrat fell and thus granted my Disintegrator and Katie a deserved stats boost.

Screenshot (562).png

At the end of the round, Katie suckered in the Swimhunter and thus triggered her bloodlust and gained a stats boost.

Round 5

Screenshot (564).png

At the end of the first half of the round, his new tank fell and this time it was Pegasus that reaped the kill.

Round 6

Screenshot (565).png

In the first half of the round, Deeplurker fell thanks to Pegasus again. So, both Pegasus and Katie had a 2-kill count.

Screenshot (566).png

At the end of the round, Sethropod managed to beat Disintegrator making it a 1 v 2 but it did not help his situation much.

Round 7

At the start of the round, Katie made her move and beat the last unit of the enemy team.

Results

From the start, the real challenge was surviving and making sure that Katie got the kill and triggered her bloodlust. Once I ensured that the falling of the other units was acceptable. Moreover, I managed to decrease his overall damage per round which granted the beating of my units on the front take more time and thus I got Katie to do exactly what I wanted to do.

The gold leagues are fun as everyone knows what to do and how to play. Having the right units and using them the right way is key to victory. The rewards... are more than worth the expense.
