Demons In The Battle Field ~ Splinterlands X Social Media Challenge
Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle from the last season where I climbed all the way to the Gold I leagues, beating opposition left and right. This battle is special because my opposition provided a struggle worthy of a Gold League standard.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 29, and there are 5 summoners to choose from: Fire, Nature, Life, Death, and Dragon.
Battle Rules:-
- Holy Protection: All units have the divine shield.
- Aimless: All units with magic and ranged attacks have Scattershot.
- Taking Sides: You cannot summon neutral units.
Keeping the mana cap, available summoners, and battle rules to choose from, I decided to have the summoner give me the highest level monsters I have in my arsenal. It is the Death summoner.
Battle Details
Let’s start the deck deconstruction from my side:
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy attackers).
Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal).
Melee Attackers: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, Trample), Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak, Cripple).
Magic Attacker: Kain Hace(Ability: Blast, Deflect).
Blocked Melee Attacker: Corpse Fiend(No Ability).
My strategy was to focus most of my attacks from the front while I tried to protect units from the back using a monster that cost 0 mana; that way, I had an extra monster with the 8divine shield**. I used a magic attacker that would have a blast effect on his surrounding units and used a sneak attacker to thin out the monsters from the back of his deck.
My overall damage per round is 17 with a healing of 3.
Summoner: Obsidian(Ability: Increase in Magic damage by 1 for all units with magic damage).
Tank: Mycelic Morphoid(Ability: Thorns).
Blocked Melee Attacker: Fungus Fiend(Ability: Divine Shield).
Magic Attackers: Mycelic Slipspawn(Ability: Taunt), Regal Peryton(Ability: FLying), Goblin Psychic(Ability: Tank Heal, Affliction), Queen Mycelia(Ability: Protect, Amplify).
His strategy was to delay the advancement of his magic units to the forefront of the deck as much as possible; that is why he used a 0 mana unit behind a 1 mana tank and used a taunt attacker in the middle of the deck ahead of a unit with a flying ability. This way, he ensured his Goblin would be safe and could heal the unts ahead after the low mana tanks fell and would have the chance to afflict affliction on my tank and prevent it from healing. He also made sure that all of his units would have shields and his Queen would remain unharmed for the longest time.
His overall damage per round is 12, with a healing of 3.
Major Events
In the first round, my summoner's ability was more effective since I got an overall decrease in HP for his units.
This first unit to fall was his tank in the first quarter of the round, which was unsurprising.
My Corpse was put to rest in the third quarter of the round.
In the final quarter of the round, his second tank bit the dust thanks to Kain.
In the first third of the round, my Thug fell, thanks to his Peryton.
In the second quarter of the round, his Peryton finally bit the dust while his Slipspawn was about to be felled, thanks to the blast radius of Kain
In the second half of the round, his Goblin was taken out by my Kain Hace, and the blast took out his Queen.
Results
From the get-go, I chose monsters that would give me high damage output with minimal mana expenditure. Kain Hace was an expensive investment but a necessary one. I assumed that he wouldn't use a monster with opportunity ability, and even if he did, Hace could get at least 1 hit on his units, which would've been enough to turn the tide. This gamble with Kain paid off this time. Hopefully, the opposition would use better monsters with abilities that would corner mine next time as he ascended to being a true monster of the death summoner.
