Great Topes de Collantes Park, the jewel of Guamuhaya/Gran parque Topes de Collantes, la joya del Guamuhaya (ENG-ESP)

Hello, friends who are joining me on #Worldmappin and #HiveCuba. Today has been an extraordinary day, and I want to share it with you, world travelers.

Today's trip was directly to the great Topes de Collantes Natural Park, where not only nature takes center stage, but also history, identity, and cultural traditions.

The trip is long, so I took the Guarandinga transportation, but not before enjoying this cloudy sunrise after a rainy night.

Topes de Collantes is located 800 meters above sea level, but its dense forest makes it an immensely attractive place.
On the way, I enjoyed watching the clouds descend over the hill of La Ventana and its surroundings.

I also enjoyed the mushroom sculpture that everyone here is familiar with.

Before arriving, the weather had already changed. A much cooler temperature and high relative humidity awaited us.

The climate, the tropical forest, the winding road, and the temperature remind me of traveling through the mountainous region of Aragua State in Venezuela.

Something striking are the different types of ferns, some of which seem to cascade down the entire property.

Also striking are some of the houses and their tropical fruit offerings.

As I entered, I was impressed by the opulence of the Kurhotel Escambray, which was built by Fulgencio Batista and his wife as a hospital for people with tuberculosis. Later, in the 1970s, it was converted into a hotel with hospital-like features, caring for people in rehabilitation and special needs. This hotel is famous for its large collection of Cuban art in each of its 210 rooms.

From the steps of the Kurhotel, you can see the Sundial, which is also topped by several works of art that embellish it. Nearby, there are other roads that lead to other hotels, such as Los Helechos and Los Pinos. I was surprised by the rain in the latter.

After enjoying the sundial and my short stay at the Hotel Los Pinos, I headed out for the coffee, tea, and hot chocolate houses.

The beauty of the landscape and even the trails was breathtaking.
On the La Batata Trail, which I hiked in the rain, the forest was closing in as I walked, but I had to turn back due to the increased rain.

On the Giants Trail, I was able to advance a little further when the downpour subsided.

The suspension bridge over the stream, half-swollen by the rain, and the enormous trees that cover the area were amazing—a perfect place to rest and possibly camp.

The tea house seemed wonderful to me; it even reminded me of the way the walls of the country houses in Lara State, Venezuela, are built with local stones, wood, and mud.

What's interesting is that these houses reflect the architecture of Cuban farmers.

Then, back at the coffee house, I couldn't contain my excitement at so much accumulated history, not only in the photos but also in the objects that adorn the museum-like space, both inside and outside the facility.

These artifacts used to convert coffee into powder reveal the history and technological development of the industry.

On our way back to La Sierrita, the clouds were beginning to lower, creating new rains, and the temperature plummeted to a very humid chill that forced me to pull out a sweater or two.

Looking down from the window, I was able to once again enjoy the distant plains, but this time with a different hue.

Hola amigos que me acompañan en #Worldmappin y #HiveCuba. Hoy a sido un día extraordinario y quiero compartirlo con ustedes, viajeros por el mundo.

Hoy el viaje a sido directamente hasta el Gran Parque Natural Topes de Collantes, donde no solo la naturaleza se convierte en un personaje principal sino también la historia, la identidad y las tradiciones culturales.

El viaje es largo, por eso tomé el transporte conocido como Guarandinga, no sin antes disfrutar de este nublado amanecer después de una noche de lluvia.

Topes de Collantes se encuentra a 800 metros sobre el nivel del mar pero su espesura boscosa lo hace un lugar inmensamente atractivo.
En el camino disfrute ver como las nubes bajaban por la loma de la ventana y sus alrededores.

También de la escultura de los hongos que todos acá arriba conocen.

Antes de llegar, ya el clima había cambiado. Una temperatura mucho más fresca y una humedad relativa alta nos esperaban.

El clima, el bosque tropical, las curvas de la carretera peligrosa y la temperatura me recuerdan los viajes en la zona montañosa del estado Aragua en Venezuela.

Algo sorprendente son los diferentes tipos de helechos que existen y como algunos parecen bajar en cascada ocupando todo el terreno.

También algunas casas y sus ofertas de frutas tropicales.

Ya entrando quede impresionado por la opulencia del Kurhotel Escambray, el cual debe su construcción a Fulgencio Batista y su esposa como hospital para personas con tuberculosis, luego en la década del 70 del siglo pasado, se reconvirtió en hotel con características de hospital, para el cuidado de personas en rehabilitación y cuidados especiales. Este hotel es famoso por gran colección de arte cubano que existe en cada una de sus 210 habitaciones.

Desde las escalinatas del Kurhotel se divisa el Reloj de sol el cual también esta rematado por varias obras de arte que lo embellecen, y cerca de este, otras carreteras que dirigen a otros hoteles, como Los Helechos y Los pinos. Este último donde me sorprendió la lluvia.

Después de disfrutar del reloj de sol y de mi corta estancia en el Hotel Los Pinos, salí rumbo a las casas del café, el té y el chocolate.

Impresionante la belleza del paisaje e incluso de los senderos.
En el Sendero La Batata, el cual caminé bajo la lluvia el bosque se iba cerrando mientras avanzaba, pero tuve que regresar por el incremento de la lluvia.

En el sendero de los Gigantes pude avanzar un poco más cuando amaino el chubasco.

Alucinante el puente colgante sobre el arrollo medio crecido por las precipitaciones y los enormes arboles que cubren el lugar, todo un espacio para descansar y posiblemente acampar.

La casa del té me pareció maravillosa, incluso me recordó la forma de construir las paredes en las casas de campo del estado Lara en Venezuela, con piedras locales, madera y barro.

Lo interesante es que estas casas muestran la arquitectura de los campesinos cubanos.

Luego en la casa del café no pude frenar mi emoción ante tanta historia acumulada, no solo en las fotos sino también en los objetos que adornan el lugar en forma de museo, tanto dentro como fuera de la instalación.

Estos objetos para convertir el café en polvo muestran una historia y el desarrollo tecnológico del ramo.

Ya de regreso a La Sierrita, las nubes comenzaban a bajar para crear nuevos procesos lluviosos y la temperatura iba en picada hacia un frescor muy húmedo que obligó a sacar algún que otro suéter.

Bajando la loma de la ventana pude volver a disfrutar de los llanos alejados pero esta vez con una tonalidad diferente.
