Improvement in water quality: UV light and chlorination role in reducing bacterial load
Greetings of the day,
Hello friends,
Water is life - the older this sentence is, the more relevant in today's time. If we use the water we use daily, it can also become a home of diseases instead of saving life. Especially the bacterial load in water, the number of microorganisms, is the main cause of waterborne diseases. Many techniques are used to deal with this problem, including UV light (ultra violet radiation) and chlorination two major remedies.
UV light is a physical process in which water is brought in contact with ultra violet rays of special wavelengths. These rays are break the DNA of bacteria and viruses, so that they are destroyed or cannot breed. This process is very fast and effective, and its biggest advantage is that no chemical is added to it. Therefore, the taste, color and smell of water remains unchanged. UV systems in hospitals and high -quality water required institutions are usually used with RO (reverse osmosis). But the thing to note is that the UV light is effective only when the water is transparent and turbidity free. If the water is dirty or beige, the UV rays do not reach the bacteria.
Chlorination is the process in which chlorine or its compounds are added to controlled amounts in water. This chlorine dissolves in the water and kills their number to a great extent. Generally, 1 to 2 PPM (Parts Per Million) chlorine dose is consideredsafe for potable water. An additional advantage of thistechnique is that it maintains bacteria even after store water for some time. But excessive chlorine can be harmful to health and can cause smell or taste in water. Hence the correct estimate and testing of dodging is mandatory.
If the water isalready clean and transparent, the UV light can be a safe and effective measure. At the same time, if organic substance or light dirt is present in the water, chlorination is more suitable. Many times these two are also combined -first chlorine is killed and then final protection is provided from UV light.

Controlling bacterial load in water is not only a guarantee of healthy life, but it is also social responsibility. Whether we are at home, in hospital, or in any industry - the purity of water cannot be ignored. Both UVlights and chlorination are effective in their location, just it is necessary to apply them with understanding and monitoring. Life can only be said to be safe when the water is pure.
THANK YOU
