Food we grow in our little garden

We moved last year because we wanted a house with a garden. I'm not a big fan of tower blocks either, I prefer houses. It was important to us, especially for our son, that he could play outside, that we had a bit more space and also some peace and quiet. It's better for his development to live in a house than in a tower block. With a slightly larger garden, we can also grow some vegetables. We've already started this year with tomatoes and peppers, which we planted in our conservatory. But we're still going to transplant them outside. Some of the tomatoes are already ripe, so we can still use the seeds.

Wir sind letztes Jahr umgezogen, weil wir ein Haus mit Garten wollten. Ich bin auch kein großer Fan von Hochhäusern, ich mag lieber Häuser. Es war uns wichtig, vor allem für unseren Sohn, dass er auch draußen spielen kann, dass wir ein bisschen mehr Platz haben und auch unsere Ruhe. Draußen haben wir ein paar Gemüsebeete gebaut, wo jetzt nur Zwiebeln und Knoblauch gepflanzt werden. Wir haben einen alten Zaun abgebaut und daraus 3 verschiedene Gemüsebeete gemacht. Wir versuchen so viel wie möglich wiederzuverwenden.

Meat is not used because it attracts rats and we don't want that. But everything else, from eggshells to vegetable waste, goes in. My friends also throw the ashes in, but I don't do that, I give them to my neighbours who use them for their chickens.

But we also have something else, namely lots of mint. This year we planted mint around the house because I love mint, especially with mojito. But the mosquitoes don't like mint and stay away from the house. It's a natural insect repellent.

going for a house that has enough space is a wise decision. Children needs a place where they can play and have fun. Your garden is very beautiful, it's gradually growing into a big farm. there are many advantages attached to growing our crops ourselves than going out there to get them from the market.
I have a small garden, I only put 3 cherry tomato plants, 2 blackberries and 2 raspberries.

We also have Tomatoes in our garden. What we also have every year are tiny snack-cucumbers. Our kids get one in their lunchbox every day.
We also have one plant of pole beans which we collect for Christmas dinner.
Blackberries, Raspberries, Strawberries and Currant are also part of our garden, as well as an apple tree.
We really have a tiny garden (30 square meters?), but the entire outside borders consist of vegetable and fruit plants.
