Trying dragon fruit for the first time!

Quizás algunos ya hayan probado esta fruta o para muchos sea bastante común, por mi parte puedo decir que jamás había visto esta fruta en mi país o al menos donde vivo, siempre me llamo la atención cuando la veía en internet por ese color tan hermoso y la forma tan linda que tenía, siempre me pregunte a que sabia.

Perhaps some have already tried this fruit or for many it is quite common, for my part I can say that I had never seen this fruit in my country or at least where I live, it always caught my attention when I saw it on the internet because of its beautiful color and the cute shape it had, I always wondered what it tasted like.

La fruta del dragón según he leído crece de un cactus, pero es una fruta mayormente popular en otros países específicamente en centro america, tiene una apariencia que realmente queda muy bien con su nombre ya que parece una especie de escamas de dragón, un color muy bonito por fuera, pero por dentro es aun mas hermosa y brillante. Algunas por dentro son blancas o pueden ser rosa fuerte. Según leí, esta fruta no es solo muy linda sino, que tambien tiene muchos beneficios para el cuerpo, en resumen, es saludable y ayuda al sistema digestivo y la piel.

Hoy fui a comprar comida al supermercado y mis ojos se iluminaron cuando vi algo nuevo en la sección de frutas, estaba la fruta del dragón y no fue para nada económica, pero realmente queríamos probarla. El kilo de esta fruta estaba en $8 tome una sola que pesaba medio kilo, asi que pague $4 por ella, realmente no se el costo en otros países pero aquí pagar $4 por una sola fruta es una locura, sobre todo con la situación económica del país que cada día está peor.

Today I went grocery shopping and my eyes lit up when I saw something new in the fruit section. There was dragon fruit, and it wasn't cheap at all, but we really wanted to try it. A kilo of this fruit was $8. I grabbed a single one that weighed half a kilo, so I paid $4 for it. I don't really know what it costs in other countries, but here paying $4 for a single piece of fruit is crazy, especially with the country's economic situation, which is getting worse every day.

Y al llegar a casa todos estaban completamente locos por probarla, incluso mi gato, el cual literalmente se obsesiono al verla, quería comerse la parte externa de la fruta, pero no sabia si era posible, me daba miedo que fuera toxico para los gatos o algo asi, pero investigue un poco en internet y vi que no es dañino e incluso pueden comer la pulpa. Entonces le di a probar un poco a él tambien.

And when I got home, everyone was absolutely crazy about trying it, even my cat, who literally became obsessed with it. He wanted to eat the outside of the fruit, but I didn't know if it was possible. I was afraid it was toxic to cats or something, but I did some research online and saw that it's not harmful and they can even eat the flesh. So I gave him a little to try too.

Cuando abrí la fruta el color me dejo hipnotizada y manchaba muchísimo, incluso aun tengo las manos rosadas. Mi hijo la probo y le encanto tanto que prácticamente se la comió casi toda el solo, se veía muy gracioso comiéndola porque parecía que comía un cerebro jajaja, la fruta desbordaba jugo y el se mancho toda la boca, manos y pecho.

When I opened the fruit, the color mesmerized me, and it stained so much that my hands are still pink. My son tried it and loved it so much that he practically ate most of it himself. He looked really funny eating it because it felt like he was eating a brain, haha. The fruit oozed juice, and he got it all over his mouth, hands, and chest.

El sabor es dulce y me recuerda un poco al Kiwi, tambien sabe parecido a la pera pero bastante suave, realmente pensé que era una fruta acida o algo asi, me sorprendió bastante lo dulce que es, aunque no es un sabor demasiado extravagante como imagine, me gusto bastante por lo hermosa que es y siempre me va a impresionar las maravillas de la naturaleza.

The flavor is sweet and reminds me a bit of kiwi, it also tastes similar to pear but quite mild, I really thought it was a sour fruit or something like that, I was quite surprised by how sweet it is, although it is not a very extravagant flavor as I imagined, I quite liked it because of how beautiful it is and I will always be impressed by the wonders of nature.
