Saturday Outing

Today we started the next phase of my son’s dental treatment, where we’ll be addressing the cavities affecting his new molars. It’s not cheap at all, but we’re doing the best we can. We took advantage of the dentist appointment to go for a walk and enjoy a different kind of Saturday. I’m really tired because we walked so much; we got home a little late, but at least we got some fresh air and took our minds off things.

We stopped at a bakery near the doctor’s office; we’ve tried their pastries there before and liked them. Today, for some strange reason, my son asked for a passion fruit pastry, and I ordered one too. I wanted to take a chance and try something fruity since I don’t usually do that, and I regretted it so much. I’m really not a fan of passion fruit candies—it tasted super sour and at the same time extremely sweet, a total mess. My son did like it quite a bit, but I didn’t let him eat too much since he’d just had his cavities treated.

Then we walked around the area for a bit and came across a church. My son was curious and wanted to go inside. Even though we aren’t religious, if my son is curious or interested in religion, I’m not going to deny him that right. We went in for a little while and even found out how to go about First Communion. It’s not something we’re sure about yet, but it’s something we might consider later on if my son wants to do it.

And even though it might sound like it didn't take long, all of this took us the whole day. Getting home was quite a journey since there was very little public transportation. Lately, getting around in Caracas has become a nightmare; I think that's the part I like least about going out, which is why I avoid the streets so much and prefer to stay home, haha. But the kids need to get out and see the world, so I have to make that little effort.

It’s really nice that you let him follow his curiosity in the church, even thinking about First Communion. He’s lucky to have parents who support his interests.
