First karate class

Desde hace un par de meses mi hijo se ha interesado por la cultura asiática, tambien le gusta ver animes como Inuyasha, y siempre dice que quiere ser fuerte y luchar, entonces… pensamos que seria buena idea inscribirlo en alguna actividad donde se distraiga y además aprenda disciplina y cualidades que puedan ayudarlo en su futuro. Le comentamos un poco sobre el Karate y le explicamos de que se trata, el se emociono mucho y le preguntamos si le gustaría aprender, dijo que si. Enseguida comenzamos a buscar alguien que pudiera entrenarlo cerca de nuestra casa y conseguimos estas clases en una skate park de la zona dictada por el sensei José Manuel.

For the past couple of months, my son has been interested in Asian culture. He also likes to watch anime shows like Inuyasha, and he always says he wants to be strong and fight, so... we thought it would be a good idea to enroll him in an activity where he can have fun and also learn discipline and skills that will help him in the future. We told him a little about karate and explained what it was all about. He got very excited, and when we asked him if he would like to learn, he said yes. We immediately started looking for someone who could train him near our house and found these classes at a local skate park taught by Sensei José Manuel.

El día de hoy fuimos a su clase de manera gratuita solo para ver como seria el asunto, además de ver si a mi hijo realmente le gustaría esta disciplina. Hay varios niños de diferentes edades viendo las clases, algunos ya con su uniforme, para estas primeras semanas el sensei nos indico que solo lo lleváramos con pantalón y camisa. La clase se ve 3 veces por semana en horarios diferentes, el día de hoy el horario fue de 4pm a 5pm en ese lapso de tiempo estuvimos sentados a lo lejos viendo cómo se desenvolvía mi hijo.

Today we went to his class for free just to see what it would be like, as well as to see if my son would really like this discipline. There are several children of different ages watching the classes, some already wearing their uniforms. For these first few weeks, the sensei told us to just bring him in pants and a shirt. The class is held three times a week at different times. Today, the class was from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. During that time, we sat in the distance watching how my son was doing.

Y aprovechando que estábamos esperando justamente en un parque, estuvimos desconectandonos un poco de la rutina como padres, obviamente vigilando lo que hacia mi hijo pero tambien disfrutando del paisaje y las diferentes actividades que realizan las personas en este Skate park, aunque esta bastante descuidado sigue siendo un lugar donde se respira aire puro.

And since we were waiting in a park, we took the opportunity to disconnect a little from our routine as parents, obviously keeping an eye on what my son was doing but also enjoying the scenery and the different activities that people do in this skate park. Although it is quite neglected, it is still a place where you can breathe fresh air.

Duro un poco mas de una hora, pero fue bastante divertido para mi hijo, al final si le gusto la clase y quiere seguir, conversamos un poco con el sensei y el nos dijo que nuestro hijo aprende rápido y que le ve potencial, estábamos hablando sobre las mensualidades y los horarios y finalmente nos fuimos. Para mi fue una experiencia totalmente nueva ya que en mi infancia jamás tuve la oportunidad de hacer algún curso o actividad extra. Y siento que esta oportunidad será muy buena para mi hijo, incluso pensamos en buscar algo mas que le guste en el tema deportivo para que pueda distraer su mente, aprender y forjar mejor su carácter.

It lasted a little over an hour, but it was quite fun for my son. In the end, he liked the class and wants to continue. We talked a little with the sensei, and he told us that our son learns quickly and that he sees potential in him. We talked about the monthly fees and schedules and finally left. For me, it was a totally new experience since I never had the opportunity to take any courses or participate in extracurricular activities when I was a child. I feel that this opportunity will be very good for my son. We are even thinking of looking for something else he likes in the area of sports so that he can take his mind off things, learn, and build his character.

It is awesome that you can give your son some experiences that you never had. Just make sure you keep up with his lessons so he can't start beating you up! We need to keep seeing your posts! :D
