Macro Photography - Stink Bug & Golden tortoise beetle
Today I again have two interesting insect species that I think are worth sharing here. The two classes of interesting insects that I mean are the first species of tortoise beetles and the second is the species of stink bugs, both of which I found in different locations and times a few days ago.
Tortoise beetles themselves are a class of insects in the Chrysomelidae family. Like beetles in general, tortoise beetles are also leaf-eating beetles and their unique behavior is pretending to be dead when disturbed. :)
Apart from that, tortoise beetles also have several color and size variants, some are green, red and golden like the tortoise beetle that I am sharing. Because of its color, this beetle is called the "golden tortoise beetle", besides that it has a shell that is similar to a tortoise shell. As for tortoise beetle that I am sharing is scientifically named Charidotella sexpunctata.
Charidotella sexpunctata, the golden tortoise beetle, is a species of beetle in the leaf beetle family (Chrysomelidae)." Wikipedia
The second class of insects is the stink bug species from the Coreidae family. My observations are that of the many types of stink bugs, the stink bug that I am sharing is one of the largest in size. But mine is still a teenager & it can be seen that the wings are not yet fully grown.
If the tortoise beetle above pretends to be dead when disturbed, bed bugs also have their own way of defending themselves, namely releasing a liquid that has a distinctive (stinging) smell. If it comes into contact with the liquid, it will feel hot and of course it will make us immediately wash the area affected by the liquid released by the stink bug.
