WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?🪟 + A POWER 🆙

I was quite happy to arrive home to Leeds yesterday afternoon. Upon close examination I could see that something was wrong. Of course the first thing that you do when you get home is open the shades and turn on the lights, right?

So I grabbed my handy-dandy motorized window shades remote control and pressed the "All" and "Open" buttons. I hear a beep, I see the engagement red light flash, and nothing happens. I thought the batteries 🔋 were just cold —too cold to do the job. I turn up the heat. ♨️

45 minutes later the room was plenty warm, so I tried the shades again. No luck. So I go and check the Hunter-Douglas router (yes my shades have a router). It checks out. All good.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking! But I changed the remote with a fresh Duracell before Christmas, so that's not the problem. But besides the light blinking and the sound of the motor engaging, still nada happens.

If you look in the photo around each black out shade, you can clearly see the daylight but it’s unlikely to light the room to enough for me to host Creative Work Hour. I mean, I could but I'd look like some kind of deranged serial killer online. Again. 🤣

Yesterday in my post we talked about the magic of well thought out lighting, so here you see over in the far corner, a singular example of what my German friends may call die Stehlampe. Groping around in the dark I manage to power the only light at this end of the flat. What can I say? I'm renting!

As soon as I wrapped up CWH and finished attending @shadowspub's Hive Witness Town Hall, I found something else wrong here at home. Something not just annoying, but pushing the boundary of truly yucky.

But I won't tell you about that one. Not yet. Maybe not ever. Or least until my sense of humor returns. 🙈

For now, I’ve just got @creativeworkwork Daily News posted and I powered up my 22 HIVE for 22 January.

Much love! 🥰

I hope you were able to find out why the shades didn't work. Hopefully, it isn't anything major. Nice room! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day! !LADY

Phew... I hope the blinds haven't broken down and that nothing too serious has happened, so you can tell us later!

I hope your blinds are working again. Much as I like the idea of automating things I know what a hassle it is when they don't work, especially if there is no manual override.

It's an old joke:

How does Bill Gates change a lightbulb?
He doesn't. He just declares darkness a new industry standard.
