📿 Happy Fat Tuesday, Hive Friends! 📿 Creative Work Hour celebrates with Pastries and Clarinets!!

The Tradition of Shrove Tuesday goes back centuries and is grounded in the Christian faith. It is the day that falls before Ash Wednesday and is observed as a day for confession and absolution.

Well, some of us, even the "unchurched" (as my family was referred to in my community when I was growing up) had another view of Shrove Tuesday. It was Fat Tuesday and what ya wanted to do, ya did! How ideal that there it is also a day for comin' clean for it!

Yesterday during Creative Work Hour, @bitterirony from Connecticut, USA sent @andysporring in Stockholm, Sweden, the traditional Swedish pastry for Shrove Tuesday, the Selma.

Confession cometh, Andy? 🤫

I'm in Leeds not Stockholm, so I was Selma-out-of-luck to match Andy's delight. But, a new Sicilian Street Food place called Pico! opened across the street from me, and they had this Shrove Tuesday delight.

*This sinful creation is the Bombalone, the Sicilian Martedì Grasso pastry. I've got a confession. I ordered both a cappuccino and a latte, just for me-me-me to enjoy.

So, Where are the Clarinets?

There're comin', sinners! But first here's today's CWH Crew.

As you know, I'm neither Swedish nor Sicilian, but an American, so my Mardi Gras musical references are driven by the sounds of New Orleans, especially old school jazz clarinet.

I'm a classical clarinetist, so there are lots of jazz devil stick (that's rough street talk for a clarinet) players I only wish I knew better. So in my research for this special edition of #ThreeTuneTuesday I found a helluva horn player and singer in Doreen Ketchens, known in The South of US as the Clarinet Queen. Watching her play will blow your mind!

Way to celebrate Big Boned Tuesday! I think I will definitely give up those big creme pastries for Lent!
