It is difficult for us because modern life is a constant influx of information and impressions. The brain, accustomed to a fast pace, like a drug addiction, begins to “break down” when stimulation is sharply reduced - and demands at least some action, even if it is useless.

We are even more afraid of being alone with our thoughts. After all, our fears, anxieties, doubts, disappointments, and feelings of guilt may surface there. Or thoughts that expose us to the wrongness of our lives. We unconsciously fear this, so we grab onto any activity to avoid an inner encounter with ourselves..
