Weekend-Engagement topics: WEEK 271 / Everything passes
The image is mine.
There are books that are endless. Books that you read not only on weekends, but constantly, throughout your entire life.
These are books that become an inexhaustible source of wisdom and inspiration. They can support you in difficult times, give you lost hope, and show you meaning where there seems to be none.
Marcus Aurelius' Meditations is such a book.
The personal diary entries of the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, written for his own self-improvement, have become one of the greatest books in human history.
I reread this book because I find honest and profound answers to difficult questions in it.
How to maintain dignity in difficult times. How to accept that we are mortal and life is fleeting. How to understand that all we can control are our thoughts and actions.
When I read Meditations, it's like talking to a wise friend. His words inspire me to change for the better - to be honest, responsible, grateful, and humble.
I read Marcus Aurelius because his words have an amazing power - they calm me when there is chaos around me and inspire me when I feel empty inside. This book helps me think more deeply and understand more clearly.
So when I am having a hard time, or when I feel disappointed and depressed, in need of support and guidance, I pick up Meditations and open it to any page. And I always find something there that corresponds to my state of mind.
And the main thing is that everything passes.
Some books we read can really speak well to us. It's good you are able to find the one that does that for you.
