Art and Creativity Journal: Last Week I Painted — Week Seven, 2026

Catching up, and now sharing work from week 7 — continuing to share painted stones completed during the preceding week. These are simple photos of the stones just painted, shown in "raw" format, before they get their protective finish coat.

I'm using the Danish numbering system for weeks that I grew up with, which means weeks start on Monday and end on Sunday. As much as anything, the purpose of these posts is to create a "work catalog" of sorts.

Very Large Pale Stone

I seem to be on a bit of a *"large stone kick" at the moment, perhaps in response to the fact that it is the least populated category in the Etsy shop. In this case it is a very large pale stone which I'm happy to have since pale stones on this scale rarely are smooth enough to paint. This one is about five inches across.

Quite happy with how this turned out and looking forward to seeing how much more the color is it going to "pop" once it gets a finish coat.

Larger Blue and Purple

Another larger stone — this one is quite thick and rounded which is an additional challenge when painting, but it turned out pretty well.

Not entirely sure what I was trying to accomplish here, although this color set is perhaps inspired by a commission I did many years ago but that never actually ended up getting finished so I suppose it's a bit of an homage to that.

Larger Green Pinwheel

2044.jpg

Another pale sand colored stone from one of my recent morning walks. I almost left this one on the beach because it is rather fat but the top is relatively flat and smooth and thus good for painting.

Working a bit with the illusion of movement in this one; elements of the pinwheel, again.

Smaller and Bright

2045.jpg

Four small but fairly bright stones all on a pale base. I imagine these will all end up in my wife's stock of stones she gives away to her counseling and Reiki clients.

This has actually been a reasonably good marketing approach, as many of her clients have turned into Alchemy Stone customers.

Contrasty Purple

2046.jpg

Working a couple of more neon bright shades into into this one. Little larger than the four preceding, still like the high contrast; this one will probably end up in our "Stones under $20" basket. We sell so much from that particular basket that it needs to be constantly topped up.

Barbie Heart?

2047.jpg

Yes, this one is very pink and very bright! I was looking back through some of my old photos of completed work — which I keep sorted by a stone category — and realized that this is actually the first time I have created a Heart Stone on a pale stone.

This one is very quartzy or pale marble in nature and I was surprised that there were no leaks or runs into little cracks. But it turned out pretty well, and will probably go quickly at the next show we attend.

Meanwhile, my (former) eBay shop is now at zero... which feels like a relief. One more thing to not have to check up on daily!

Thank You!
