Art and Creativity Journal: Last Week I Painted — Week Nine, 2026
Week nine turned out to be a moderately good week, creativity wise. That said, most of my time was actually spent transferring inventory to Etsy and working on creating content for the new website but there was some time for painting, as well. So here we go, continuing on with creating this 2026 "Work Catalog." These are simple photos of the stones just painted, shown in "raw" format, before they get their protective finish coat.
I'm using the Danish numbering system for weeks that I grew up with, which means weeks start on Monday and end on Sunday. As much as anything, the purpose of these posts is to create a "work catalog" of sorts.
Pink and Purple:
Sometimes, I truly have no idea what's going to come out when I sit down with a stone. That was the case with this one. Normally I work with bright reds and orange on the pale stones, and I really had no intention to use hot pink and purple, but it came out anyway and I do like the end result.
Small Goddess Stone:
The goddess stones are always popular at events, especially if we're at a spiritual venue. I always paint them on very round elongated rocks with a design just at one end. They came about more or less by accident when I was debating whether to take some stones in "awkward" shapes back to the beach, or find a way to use them.
Dreamcatcher:
I wasn't really sure whether I was just going to stick with a spiral theme here or whether I wanted to turn it into one of my "Dream Catcher Stones." I'm leaning towards the latter, in large part due to the shape of the stone, and it's also a type of stone we almost never have in stock.
I have actually had people tell me that they put them under their pillow when they sleep at night, and that they remember their dreams better than they would have, otherwise. Of course there's no science on that, but if you believe in something sometimes it works for you.
Solar Plexus Chakra:
Of all our chakra stones, the Solar Plexus is often under represented in our selection, and that's partly my fault because working with the yellow is a bit of a pain in the rear... because the pigment coverage is poor and sometimes I have to paint over the same lines three times in order to get it saturated enough to look like I want it to. This one did turn out pretty well though.
Large Soulmate Stone:
This is a somewhat larger stone, and I'm not even sure why I picked it up... other than the fact that it has a very smooth surface which I liked. However it's a shape that I don't usually like to work with because it's too oblong to take most circular designs well, but not really long enough to take two Mandalas... except this time I made it work somehow.
I feel the clock ticking a bit here, as we get closer to show season! Hard to believe tht it is already March.

Have you ever tried painting your patterns as an interwoven ying-yang design? Does that particular symbol not cross your mind, not suit your style, or just not tend to work out?
That's actually not a bad idea! I tried it many years ago and struggled to get a good interlock between two sections. The designs are built from the center out, meaning I have to know (ahead of time) EXACTLY how large each needs to be or I'll end up with weird gaps.
I'm thinking I should try again, as I have had 8 years in between to dial in just how much space I need to fit something.
I'll tag you (if that's OK) if it works out!
The interlocking spirals would definitely be a challenge, but if you can figure out how to make it work, I'm reasonably sure there would be a market, especially considering the mystical nature of your customer base.
