SOLUTION TO MATH EXAMS QUESTION //TRIGONOMETRY Q9//
Hello everyone!
It’s another beautiful day to solve a mathematics past exam question, specifically in the topic of trigonometry. Today, I'm breaking down the process into simple, easy-to-understand steps.
The question asks us to find the length of the adjacent side of a right-angled triangle, where the opposite side is 50 meters, and the angle given is 30 degrees.
Since we already know the length of the opposite side and the size of the angle, the next step is to figure out which trigonometric method can help us solve this. After thinking it through, I realized that the tangent ratio is the best fit for this kind of question. That’s because the tangent ratio connects the opposite and adjacent sides of a right-angled triangle.
We already know the opposite side is 50 meters, and we’re looking for the adjacent side, which I named X.
So I applied the tangent method by plugging in the known values, and after working through the calculation, I arrived at the final answer:
The adjacent side is approximately 86.6 meters.
