THE RESULTING EFFECT OF FORGETFULNESS
Hello everyone, I’m @akwash360 and I’m happy to participate in this week’s interesting topic @Hive-Reachout community which is “The effect of forgetfulness”. I found this topic so interesting because I used to forget things a lot in the past, even though not completely gone now but I can tell that there is a big difference. During my childhood I can vividly remember how I used to lose money whenever I am sent on an errand. I used to forget that I’m holding money and just dispose it on my way to the shop, until when I got to the shop then I would discover that I’m no longer holding the money. This happened several times which I lose count of.

So, in this post I will be sharing a terrible experience I had as a result of forgetfulness which cost me a carry over in one of my major courses (MTH 215) while in high school. It was a bad experience actually that I wished could be rewind but unfortunately impossible.
What actually happened was that I had my exams time table drafted out immediately it was out. But within the week, Wednesday I guess. Something happened within the department that made the HOD shifted MTH 215 exams from Friday to Monday (Which happened to be a free day for us). The announcement was passed across to all students actually but I totally forgot to do that adjustment on my drafted time table. As such, I confidently travelled home for the weekend with the intention of coming back to the school environment on Monday evening since I don’t have any exams on Monday (forgetting that my Friday paper was shifted to Monday 10:00 am).
On a Monday morning, I was at home when I received a phone call from the course rep, asking where I was because the exam was about to start. I freezed at that point when I realised I messed up. Unfortunately for me the distance of my school from my hometown is about 240 km, which would take me about 4 hrs by road. At that point I wish I could fly. That was how I missed that exam.
Returning back to school the next day, I tried all I could to see that I managed to get out of the situation my forgetfulness caused me but unfortunately all efforts proved abortive. The lecturer traveled immediately after his exam and will only return the next week. I managed to talk to him on the phone but he told me there’s nothing he could do about it, so I had to resit for the exams next year.
I learnt my lessons the hard way. After that incident, I was worried and I had to go online and also youtube to get pdf resources and videos that highlight some basic exercises to help boost my memory efficiency. That has been of tremendous help. Another practice that helps me recall things easily is by writing down the vital activities I have for the day in my notepad.

In conclusion, I will say that forgetfulness is inevitable, but we must take note and be deliberate about our daily plans and activities to avoid forgetfulness.
I would like to use this opportunity to invite @oluthomas, @rishagamo and @haneefa99 to participate in the prompt for the week.
Thank you for reading through and I hope you enjoyed it…!
