KEY MARRIAGE STANDARDS YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULDN’T IGNORE
Hello amazing people of the Sci-Fi Community!
I’m delighted to participate in this week's prompt (SMP-W14), which focuses on the topic “Marriage Standards.” Personally, I believe that every individual looking forward to marriage should equip themselves with this essential knowledge. And I’m happy the Sci-Fi Community is bringing this topic to light at such a crucial time.
It’s unfortunate that many young people today tend to focus mainly on physical standards, like body shape, financial status, and outward appearances. While these things may seem attractive, I believe it’s time we start looking beyond the surface. It’s high time we focus on the deeper qualities standards that truly define a person, rather than prioritizing status and appearance.

So, in my submission for this week, I’ll highlight some key standards I believe are worth considering before taking the bold step into marriage; a journey of no return, some people said.
1. Compatibility
Many marriages today are struggling because the partners failed to observe whether their lifestyles were truly compatible. It’s important to know if the person you’re dating supports and aligns with the things you value. As the Bible rightly says, "Can two walk together unless they agree?" For example, a person who dislikes parties may struggle in a relationship with someone who enjoys going out to clubs every weekend. Lifestyle clashes like these often lead to unnecessary conflict.

2. Values and Character
Young people should look out for core values and traits such as honesty, kindness, integrity, respect, and moral principles. If these aspects are not thoroughly examined before getting married, disagreements and misunderstandings will likely follow. Conflicts often arise from the smallest issues when values are not aligned.

3. Emotional Maturity
A few weeks ago, I heard a tragic story of a lady who stabbed her boyfriend because he cheated on her. In retaliation, he grabbed the knife and stabbed her as well. Sadly, both of them died from their injuries. This shows how dangerous a lack of emotional maturity can be. If a person cannot control their anger or emotions, they’re not ready for a relationship. Relationships test your patience, discipline, and emotional balance. If you’re not mature, you could make choices you’ll regret for life.

4. Social Behavior
This is very important to me. I always pay close attention to how a potential partner treats my family and friends. I believe the way they treat others is a reflection of how they will treat me in marriage. If I notice behavior I wouldn't be able to live with in a marriage, then it’s a clear sign to reconsider the relationship.

5. Financial Responsibility
Money issues have torn many marriages apart. I once stayed with a family that constantly argued. And the root of most of their problems was financial mismanagement. Both partners earned salaries but didn’t have any joint financial plan. They constantly argued over who should pay which bill, and they had no strategy for saving or preparing for their children’s future. Financial maturity is vital for building a stable home.

In conclusion, physical appearance and material things are temporary, but character, maturity, and shared values are what truly sustain a marriage. It’s time we encourage the younger generation to prioritize what truly matters.

Thank you for drawing my attention to that, and I've acted accordingly.
Thanks for coming around🙏
All valid points. compatibility, maturity, finances, etc are all important and shouldn't be taken for granted when finding a partner.
Yeah, very important!
Thanks for coming around...
This is such a powerful and necessary reminder. You really hit the nail on the head - marriage is much more than just looks and money.
Emotional maturity, shared values, and genuine compatibility are what truly hold a relationship together in the long run.
I love how you broke everything down so clearly, especially the part about emotional balance and financial responsibility
I'm happy to hear that it's detailed enough. Thanks for coming around
I like the detailed on explanation you gave, emotional maturity is very important.
Nice work
Thank you, I'm glad to hear you like it
Many people feel once we are in love then that makes us compatible but that's very wrong, many lovers are not compatible and they rush into marriage and start disturbing neighbours with fights and quarrels every day.
Lol🤣
It seems like you have one neighbour that is disturbing you abi🤣
Funny but very true bro. Compatibility is key in the business of marriage👌
