HOW I DEVELOPED HEALTHY EATING HABIT

Eating habits! This is an interesting topic to write about, and I’m so delighted to participate in this prompt. A lot of people today do not really understand what "eating habits" mean. Many eat simply because food is available, not necessarily because they are hungry or because it’s the right time for a meal. I know this because I was once like that.

When I was growing up as a child, whenever I discovered that my favorite meal was prepared, I would go into the kitchen and eat as many times as possible, not because I was hungry, but simply because I loved the food. This continued until I got to a higher institution. That was when I understood that such eating habits were unhealthy, and I began to make adjustments. It wasn’t easy, but I had to change because I became aware of the implications. I had to discipline myself to practice good and healthy eating habits rather than focusing on the quantity of food I consumed.

I must say that the transformation wasn’t easy, but with determination, focus, and discipline, one can overcome bad eating habits. When I talk about unhealthy eating habits, I mean skipping meals (whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner), eating too much junk food, eating late at night, and overeating or undereating. These habits can cause serious harm to the body.

However, healthy eating habits such as eating three balanced meals at the right time and in the right portion, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding excessive junk food, especially at night, help build a healthy body, boost the immune system, enhance brain function, and protect against diseases.

I can proudly say that I now practice healthy eating habits. In the morning before going to work, I ensure that I take light food for breakfast. During the day at work, I make sure to eat the right portion of carbohydrates. In the evening, I opt for light food and fruits to aid digestion. I also make sure not to eat late at night because whenever I do, I find it difficult to sleep comfortably, so I’ve made it a habit to avoid late night meals as much as possible.
