Hello everyone!
It’s another beautiful day with mathematics, and today I’ll be solving Question 10 from the topic Trigonometry. This particular question involves finding the opposite side of a right-angled triangle, where the angle is given as 30 degrees and the adjacent side is 200 meters.

The first thing I did was to sketch the triangle, using the information provided in the question. After setting up the diagram, I identified the appropriate trigonometric ratio to use. Since we are given the adjacent side and asked to find the opposite side, the best option was the tangent ratio, which is defined as:

Tan(θ) = Opposite / Adjacent

Next, I substituted the known values into the formula and simplified the expression. After working through the steps, I found the value of the unknown side x, to be approximately 115.46 meters.

Therefore, the height of the observer above sea level, which is what we were asked to find is 115.46 meters.
