Semi-coppered Heavy Jumper (Hyllus semicupreus)

I spotted another Hyllus jumping spider. This one is Hyllus semicupreus, known as the semi-coppered heavy jumping spider. It is probably the smallest species in the Hyllus genus.

The spider is creamy yellow, with an orange band on the head, and copper-colored legs. This indicates that it is a female. I caught it in the act of ambushing a blue butterfly larva.

Yeah, she got herself a tasty lunch!
