Monomad: Wasp in Silence

This is Prionyx parkeri, known as the thread-waisted wasp, a species of wasp belonging to the family Sphecidae.

On that quiet afternoon, I noticed the wasp relaxing on a fragile twig. I love to be alone; the wasp seemed to like being alone too.

Sometimes, the wasp would somersault while supporting itself by biting the twig with its jaws. Perhaps it was practicing yoga. The faint sound of the afternoon breeze replaced the relaxing music. What a peaceful silence!
