Monomad: Metallic Wood-boring Beetle

This is a fascinating beetle, a shy one that prefers to keep to itself in silence. Commonly known as the metallic wood-boring beetle, it is a species of jewel beetle belonging to the family Buprestidae. The beetle has hard shields with a brilliant color. Although it looks calm, this beetle is unpredictable; it can fly away even when you blink. It is commonly seen perched silently on a tree branch or in a bush. However, I can tell you that I rarely encounter this beetle during my nature walks. It was the second time I had spotted the beetle; I think it was a coincidence that may not happen often.
