Monomad: "House Guard"

The gray wall jumping spider is often associated with the "house guards." It lives in cracks in walls and preys on mosquitoes or ants, sharing this role with geckos. Another jumping spider associated with the "house guard" is the pantropical jumping spider (Plexippus paykulli), which establishes its territory along building walls. It ambushes slightly larger prey like drainflies, houseflies, and others. However, it is willing to climb down from the walls and explore the surrounding bushes to hunt for more diverse prey.

I caught a female pantropical jumping spider crawling on a houseplant in my yard. The round eyes suggest that she is a true predator!
