Monomad: Distant Cousins

I captured two different beetle species in the bushes while walking yesterday afternoon.

The first was a transverse ladybug (Coccinella transversalis), the size of a watermelon seed. In addition to mating, this little beetle likes to hunt aphids. It can sweep hundreds of aphids in a short time.

The other was a jewel beetle (Agrilus nebulosus) belonging to the Buprestidae family. This is also a small beetle, only the size of a rice grain. The beetle is agile, continuing to crawl non-stop on the weed stems.

This is another entry I submitted for the daily #monomad challenge.

These photos are my own, taken with POCO X3 NFC smartphone + external macro lens.
