Fungifriday: White Marasmiellus

Coinciding with today's #fungifriday challenge, I'm sharing some mushroom photos captured with my phone camera.

The white Marasmiellus fungus (Marasmiellus candidus) was found while walking in the woods, south of my town.

The mushroom has a short stem, with a cap that blooms like a flower petal. Many coconuts with holes from squirrel bites are scattered on the forest floor. The coconuts rot and become damp over time, and when the rainy season arrives, these mushrooms appear both in clusters and solitary.
