Epeus flavobilineatus: Female and Male Spiders

These photos were taken in the garden behind my friend's house. I noticed a lime tree that was home to some jumping spiders. I've seen some Epeus and Hyllus jumping spiders there. I wonder why they tend to hang out in that tree; maybe they like the smell of lime leaves? There must be something else, and I have no idea about that.

This is a female yellow-lined Epeus spider (Epeus flavobilineatus). She's like a mother hen incubating her eggs. She has to be smart about how she manages her time. The eggs have to be well protected so that they are not preyed on by other predators. But sometimes she has to go out to hunt. She won't go out too far because it's a very risky gamble. Yes, there are a lot of dirty thieves who are after her eggs.

At the same time, I also noticed a male yellow-lined Epeus in the lime tree. The difference is that the male has a dark face and has small hairs that resemble a Mohawk haircut. A male just wants to mate with a female, but they don't care about the eggs. That's not a male's duty!
