Cylindromyia intermedia | Bristle Fly

Cylindromyia intermedia is a species of bristle fly belonging to the subgenus Calocyptera. This species is distributed from Europe to Asia. Like hoverflies, bristle flies are active pollinators and tend to prefer flowers. They have a slightly elongated, hairy abdomen and a reddish-brown color similar to tea. I found the bristle fly perched on a dry shrub twig during an afternoon walk in the countryside.
