Assassin Crab Spider (Thomisidae sp.)

Most spiders have a deadly bite. With their sharp jaws, they can kill their prey instantly. Their prey is usually the same size or smaller, but they can kill larger prey. This time, I caught the assassin crab spider (Thomisidae sp.). As you can see, it had a stingless bee as its prey. The crab spider easily camouflages itself against the white flowers. Pollinators come by unaware that a predator is waiting in ambush. This time, the prey was a stingless bee. Tomorrow, who knows?!
