Supporting by Making #04 - Pupiko's Carry Bag / プピ子さんのキャリーバッグ
I finally started sewing the carry bag for @pupiko that I’d been wanting to make for a long time. I bought the fabric last spring, decided on the design in summer, and made the pattern… it almost makes me laugh how long it has taken. Last year, just before my trip to Portugal, I also hurriedly knitted Pupiko’s first sweater.
A year ago, she was still “naked,” so we just wrapped a scarf around her and took her to a care home in Chemnitz for the first time. I still remember how kindly and warmly both the staff and the residents welcomed us.
Thanks to all the opportunities, chances, and luck, she was on the nation wide TV news.

As for the bag, I only need to attach the handles. But as the fabric is quite thick, the sewing machine needle bent, and I didn’t have a spare, so now I have to wait. Some parts of the work are a bit hard on my hands too, so maybe it’s a sign to take a break. Pupiko should be a fun happy project.
Once the new needle arrives tomorrow, I’ll finish the handles and it should be done. I wonder if I’ll be able to take her to Portugal in her new bag.

ずっと縫いたいと思っていた @pupiko さんの持ち歩きバッグをようやく作り始めました。去年の春に布を買って、夏にデザインを決めて型紙を作って・・・どれだけかかっているんだと笑いそうになりつつ、去年もポルトガル行きの直前にプピ子さんの初めてのセーターを特急で編んだのを思い出しました。
一年前はまだ裸だったのでとりあえずスカーフをまいて初めてケムニッツの介護施設に行ったんだっけ。スタッフもお年寄りもみなさん親切に温かく迎えてくれたのが懐かしいです。
バッグはというと、あとは持ち手をつけるだけなのですが、いかんせん分厚い布で、ミシンの針が曲がってしまい、ストックがなかったので待ち。手に負担がかかる作業もあるので、休めということでしょう。明日針が届いたら持ち手をつけて完成です。新しいバッグに入れてポルトガルに連れて行けるかな？
