On Low-Energy Days / パワー不足の日に
Over the past few days, I’ve been feeling low on energy—partly due to premenstrual symptoms, and partly because of all the complicated paperwork and procedures I’ve had to deal with. On top of that, I didn’t sleep well last night, which hasn’t helped my mood today.
When I was studying Ayurveda last year, I learned that while spring is often seen as a season of beginnings and activity, it's also a time when not only good things start to sprout. It can be a season when many people—myself included—feel off balance, both mentally and physically. That idea makes sense to me now.
During times like these, it might help to have a personal "manual" for getting yourself going again. For me, it usually goes like this: give myself permission to slack off → eat something good → take a walk → write in my notebook → take a nap. Cleaning also helps me reset—I just wiped down the kitchen floor earlier. As for tidying tasks, I try to avoid hanging laundry, since we have a lot of family clothes and it tends to really test my patience 💦
Another trick is to just take a very small step forward. When I have a pile of writing work waiting, simply opening the necessary file is my go-to first move. I heard somewhere that it’s not that you need to be motivated to act—but that once you act, motivation starts to follow.
I thought there might be others out there feeling the same way, so I decided to share this. Let’s take care of ourselves gently, and find little ways to keep moving forward bit by bit towards summer ☺️
ここ数日、生理前の体調不良に加えて、ややこしい事務作業や手続きが続き、昨日は寝不足でなんとなく気分が重たく、パワーが出きらない感じがしています。
去年アーユルヴェーダを学んでいたときに、春は「始まりの季節」と言われてアクティブな雰囲気もありますが、芽が出るのは良いものばかりとは限らず、心や体のバランスを崩しやすい時期でもあると知りました。なんとなくわかる気がします。
こんなときのために、自分のエンジンのかけ方をメモしておくのもいいかもしれません。私の場合は、思いきってさぼる → おいしいものを食べる → 散歩する → ノートを書く → 寝る、のループです。掃除も無心になれるので、さっきキッチンの床拭きをしました。片付け系の中でも、洗濯物は家族のものの数が多くて、干すときにイライラがマックスになるので避けています💦
あとは、とにもかくにも小さな行動をする。とりあえず必要なファイルを開くのは、書き物仕事が溜まっているときの定番です。エンジンをかけて行動するのではなくて、行動をするとエンジンがかかってくるのだとか。
同じような状態の方がいるかもしれないと思い、投稿してみました。少しずつ転がっていくような工夫をしつつ、無理せず自分を大事に日々を過ごしましょう☺️
