My first outdoor coffee / はじめてのアウトドアコーヒー

After finishing most of the spring and summer planting and seedling work, I was feeling a bit of a “gardening void.” But there’s more to enjoy in the garden than gardening itself. So today, I finally tried something I’ve been wanting to do ever since I started renting this garden — making outdoor coffee for the first time in my life.

Outdoor coffee simply means boiling water over a flame outside, making coffee, and enjoying it in the open air. The taste may not much different from what you get at home, but there was something truly special about quietly waiting for the water to boil, watching the flame, brewing the coffee, and drinking it slowly, all alone in the peaceful garden on a quiet morning. The cinnamon roll I picked up at a local market on the way to the garden was gently sweet — just the way I like it — and it paired perfectly with the coffee.

Right now, I’m using a pocket stove with solid fuel, but it has a downside: you can’t stop it mid-burn without wasting the rest of the fuel. So, I’m planning to buy an alcohol stove soon. I also want to get a garden table to enjoy my coffee sessions more comfortably... This season, I’m hoping to fully embrace the “garden café” life.

Coffee at home or in a café is great, but outdoor coffee has its own charm! If you ever get the chance, I really recommend giving it a try ☺️

春夏の植物の育苗や植え付けがひと段落して、ちょっとだけガーデニングロスでしたが、庭ではガーデニング以外のたのしみも。ということで、今日は庭を借りて以来やってみたかった「アウトドアコーヒー」を人生で初めてしてみました。

アウトドアコーヒーとは、外で火でお湯を沸かして、コーヒーをいれて飲むというもので、家と味は変わらないとは思いますが、午前の誰もいない静かな庭でひとりで火を見ながらお湯が沸くのを待って、コーヒーを淹れて、ゆっくり飲むのは格別でした。庭に来る途中に寄った市内のマーケットで買ったシナモンロールは甘さ控えめで好みの味で、コーヒーとよく合いました。

今は固形燃料のポケットストーブを使っているのですが、途中で燃料を残して止めることができない不便さがあり、アルコールストーブを近々導入する予定です。コーヒーライフには庭用のテーブルもほしいし・・・今シーズンはガーデンカフェを満喫しようと思っています。

家やカフェで飲むコーヒーもおいしいですが、アウトドアコーヒーもいいですよ！チャンスがある人はぜひお試しあれ ☺️
