Hive Fest 10 Opening Party in KL / Hive Fest 10 オープニングパーティー

Since yesterday Hive Fest has begun! On the first day, there was a welcome party by the poolside bar of the event partner hotel.

This year’s Fest is being held in Asia, so there are less participants than last year’s Hive Fest in Europe — but I like how this makes it easier to recognize each other and have conversations.

It feels truly special to meet people I usually see online, those I met last year in Split, others I met this year in Graz, and now new faces I’m meeting in person for the first time. It’s fascinating how, through Hive — which I started using nine years ago — we can connect with people from all over the world, both online and offline. What an amazing time to live in.

Another thing I love about Hive Fest is that it gives me a reason to explore new cities. Actually I was in Kuala Lumpur about fifteen years ago, and I’m amazed by how much it’s changed and grown since then.

As always, I’m deeply grateful to the organizers who make these events possible and maintain our sense of community, and to all the participants I get to meet here 😊

Yesterday I was so excited by the city vibes, the new encounters, and reunions — and perhaps also because the bartender kept refilling my vodka glass — that I drank too much and didn’t sleep enough 😅 I’ll try to go easier on the drinks so I can fully enjoy the Fest!

Still, I can’t get enough of Kuala Lumpur’s glittering energy — it really speaks to my Tokyo roots 😊

さてさて、今年のHive Festが始まりました。初日はイベントのパートナーのホテルのプールサイドのバーでパーティーがありました。

今年はアジア開催で、ヨーロッパで開催された去年より参加者は少なめですが、みなさんの顔が見えてお話ししやすいのは個人的にうれしいです。

普段オンラインで顔を合わせる人、去年スプリトで会った人、今年グラーツで会った人、新しくリアルで対面する人、9年前に使い始めたHiveという共通点で世界中の人たちとオンラインでもオフラインでもつながれるって不思議で、なんともいい時代だなあと思うのでした。

あと、Festをきっかけに新しい街を旅できるのも気に入っています。クアラルンプールは15年前に旅をしたことがありますが、ずいぶん変わって栄えていてびっくり。

毎度のことながらFestはじめイベントを企画してコミュニティーのつながりをメンテしてくれるみなさん、ここで会える参加者のみなさんに大感謝です😊

昨日は都会の雰囲気や出会い、再会がうれしくて、バーのお兄さんがどんどんウォッカをついでくれたにもあり、飲みすぎて寝不足です 😅 フェストを楽しめるようにお酒はほどほどにしようと思います。

それにしてもクアラルンプールのこのギラギラした感じ、東京育ちなのでたまりません。
