Feeling Clear by Setting My Life's Navigation Goal /

Last month, I started taking a group coaching session once a month, which will continue for six months.

Until now, I’ve had a vague idea of what kind of life would make me happy. Whenever something interesting popped up in front of me, I would jump at the chance — and before I knew it, my life felt scattered and chaotic, I liked it though. So, during last month’s first session, I talked about this feeling, and I set "life navigation goal." The goal is not like “becoming a CEO” — instead, I focused on how I want to feel and what kind of state would bring me a sense of comfort and ease.

It is like the car navigation system. Without goal, we wonder where to go.

When I listed out the things I truly love, it turned out to be quite simple:

  • Gardening
  • Napping under the sun
  • Delicious food from around the world, especially tomatoes
  • Cooking
  • Traveling
  • Making things with my hands
  • Writing on Hive Blog and connecting with interesting people around the world

Based on this, I tried to put my life navigation goal into words: "I want to fully enjoy the diversity of the world while living freely and comfortably."

More specifically, I want to travel and connect with interesting people who share my passion for gardening, cooking, and other hobbies. I’d love to welcome people from around the world into my garden. I also want to work and collaborate with people during my travels, create different kinds of food and products, and share them with others — which will hopefully lead to more inspiring connections. Haha, it's still quite messy but good first step.

Since setting this goal, I feel much clearer about where I'm heading and what I should focus on or let go of. I no longer feel the need to say "yes" to everything, and that has given me a sense of calm and space.

Honestly, I used to be skeptical about coaching. I wondered if it would really make a difference. But having a good coach and a supportive group of people to learn with has completely changed my perspective. The structured yet relaxed approach to shaping my life feels like the perfect fit for me.

My goal for next month is to reach out and communicate with people in fields I’m interested in — both online and offline. For example, my coach encouraged me to try connecting with people I admire, even those who seem out of reach.

In fact, I’ve already taken a small step. I left a comment on an Instagram post about root trainers from a gardener I admire. I wrote that I discovered root trainers through her videos and have been using them ever since. It felt great to take that first step, and now I want to keep going and see where it leads.

By the way, root trainers are slightly deeper cell trays designed to help roots grow straight and strong. They work especially well for plants like broad beans, peas, and okra.

As I was writing this post, I realized that until recently, I tried doing so many things and ended up with a bit of a mess. But maybe that was a necessary process to discover what truly matters to me. Putting my life’s goal into words helped me feel clear and refreshed. I feel more centered.

What would your "life navigation goal" be? It’s surprising how powerful it can be to put it into words. If you feel like sharing, I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

  • Hive Blog

Life navigation goal is a novel idea, I like it 😍.
I like your goal, too, it sounds right. I'm changing things at the moment, I'll maybe write a post about it later or in a few days. I'm learning to let go of things, things I have done, felt, thought, most of my life. Today, I'm taking a day off work to practice living a different way - if I did not go to "work".
So interesting reading about how you are developing ❤️

I admire your inputs on this. I can relate with the thought "what kind of life would me happy." That also has been my struggle. Also, I can relate with the list mentioned except "napping under the sun." hehhe... Now, I'm in my 40's I feel that I should just give up on those that I thought would make me happy, but maybe those just come from society's expectations. Reconnecting with people is something I should to too. Thank you for these life realizations.
