What a day!
Most people can relate to how Sundays are very chaotic in a typical Nigerian household. It was always my favorite day of the week back in Uni because it was my day of rest. No one was up in my ear as early as 5am to attend services and yes I was still very much religious, just had a little more free will. I could either attend first or second services or even stream sermons online the days I’m too tired.
Sadly, my free will ends the moment I’m back home to my parents house and I have to succumb because their house, their rules.
My mom woke me up as early as 5am for a service that starts at 8am to get ready. I’m normally not a morning person so that started my day on a very cranky foot.
I managed to get dressed in time to avoid her yelling, only for her to have a problem with my outfit and asked that i changed into another one. Now imagine being cranky and then getting dressed, only for you to be asked to change your outfit. Anyways, she noticed that I wasn’t in the best mood so she tried to bribe me with a really nice bubu dress she made for me. I loved it and I got a lot of compliments in church as well so bribe was immediately accepted and we made up.
CHURCH SERVICE
I arrived church at exactly 8:30am because we had a flat tire on the way. I wasn’t exactly happy because I missed the praise and worship session which is my favorite part of service but i can’t deny that I felt very relieved that we weren’t early enough as other days where we sit at the first row of church. I always see the preacher eye ball to eye ball and i forcefully have to pay attention or try to not doze off at any point in service.
Service was powerful, we took the Holy communion and the message was about the power of faith for miracles. After hours, service ended, I had conversations with friends and took pictures of them.
BACK HOME
We made a few stops to say hi to my uncles and grandpa, it’s a tradition for every Sundays since I was born. I always look forward to this part because I never leave empty handed and I can take as many things as I want from the house.
Got home after a long day, i cooked for the house as the chef that I am and I had my traditional Sunday afternoon nap that hits different everytime.
Woke up thinking about how I have to get used to never missing Sunday services, waking up unusually early and wearing only certain outfits my mom approves of. I’m in for it😔.
I definitely wouldn’t have let this day pass without sharing my experience and asking how everyone’s day went.
LAST POST
My first post back on hive after so many years motivated me in writing this. Thank you all for the warm welcome and comments, although I’m still getting a hang of it.
Luckily I have a nice new mentor @nkemakonam89 who is helping me navigate through and making sure I’m doing a good job. Also @samostically who is still somewhere in the corner supporting even though i didn’t see any comment from him on my last post o lol.
HIVE PLANS
I’m working towards engaging and meeting new people. I plan to comment actively on posts and explore various communities and be active in them. For now, I’ll be limiting myself to communities I was once active in before and I’m very much interested in. Communities like the food community, ladies of hive, hive naija and hive learners while looking to explore other ones in the near future.
That’s a summary of how my day went and I hope everyone have a great week.
I could totally picture the whole day with the way you narrated it.
Nigerian Sunday mornings really don’t give anyone the chance to be lazy at all 😂.
Your mom bribed you with a bubu dress, that part cracked me up.😂
Glad service was powerful and you still got to enjoy communion even though you missed praise and worship.
Welcome back to Hive.. It’s nice to see your energy and plans for engaging more in communities.
Keep sharing your experiences, we’re definitely enjoying them.
Yes o I was too upset until the bubu came😂, she knows how to get me
Nigerian mothers require a different level of patience becauseee hmm
Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comment💗
I'll definitely keep sharing🤗
You're always welcome my dear
Hehehe , wondering why your mum didn't like your initial outfit, but this bubu gown she made for you looks so classy on you . Like, it looks like they born you together with the cloth 😀, she has a great choice for her lovely daughter and glad you loved it too and rocked the gown to the church .
For an 8 am, service and mum waking you up by 5am to get prepared talks more on how she isn't a late person like me. I have taken note of this 🤦
Your Sundays wasn't bad at all, especially with the yummy sleep... it's super relaxing!
Good you have your niche community on hive already , just do well to stay active this time , explore and make new friends through genuine engagement without going on leave again oo😃

I'm guilty of this leave thing again, I'm sorry I'll repent. Infact I just repented 😔
She complained about my dress being too short and that wasn't the case at all, she just wanted to be annoying but we settled sha, we have regular fights like that😃
