Mcgi// Forgive and Forget
Dearly beloved, Calvary greetings to you all. I'm here once again to share my reaction to the topic discussed by bro Eli on what the Bible says about 'forgive and forget'. Honestly, I used to think like other people that it is not possible to forgive and forget. Seriously, anyone that has gone through painful and ill treatment from close ones may find it difficult to forget.
Most times, we still find ourselves remembering all the hurts someone has subjected us to, even when we claim we have forgiven them. At times, we tell it to their face that we have forgiven them but can't forget. This clearly shows we don't have God's kind of love yet. The God's kind of love, forgives and forget according to Hebrew 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
We should also know as Christians that the force that makes us remember those things is the devil, so as to revenge and go against God that says vengeance is His. There's nothing to remember those hurtful things for, but the devil helps us to remember and keep grudges against our offenders.
The truth is that we aren't Christians yet, until we are Christlike. Until we resemble Christ in all and have His kind of love that forgives and forget people's iniquities and remember them no more. Then, the light we shine and everyone will see it and glorify God. This means if we have the kind of God's love within us, it is possible. We can actually forgive and forget.
Thanks for reading.
A life of bitterness is not Christians. We should always learn how to forgive and forget just as Christ did.
