It's time to work

Greetings!

The festive holiday and celebration has come and we are now back to work, thank God for the existence of the word holiday both in the dictionary and in the practical, if not for the practical existence of holiday, I would have worn out towards the tale end of last year, as both the physical and mental stress would have sent me packing, not only me, but others too. The the timely intervention of holiday came to my rescue and save me from the hand of stress and the hot weather that heralded the December period.

One thing I would never take away from the holiday was rest of mind. During the holiday, I was able to rest and attend to the needs of my household. Being a married woman, I was able to take care of myself and my home. Also, being a festive holiday, i was able to prepare very well for the festive celebration of the Christmas and the new year which turned out to be a success at the end. Thanks to the support of my husband and my wonderful kids. They really did well.

Though, not a civil servant or someone that earns salary, but a supplier and general merchant that deals in supplying of building materials, most especially stone dust and granite. I know people will be wondering how I came about having a holiday, hmmm, the answers were not far fetched and this is because as a supplier, I worked closely with the contractors and the quarry where what I supplier is being crushed and produce. Hence, the December being the festive period. Holiday was declared by all quarry companies and even the engineers even took a break and traveled to their various places to have nace time and fun with their respective families. So, I too took on the opportunity to declare for myself holiday, which I really enjoyed with my family.

So, as a result of this holiday, I took my time to evaluate myself and my business performance throughout the year 2024 and afterwards mapped out plans on how to carry out my enterprise in another dimension in the new year after the festive break. Part of my plans was to be more sound in my customer care and its relationship and also to create more awareness using both the print and social media which I believe will enhance the business and take me to new height.

All these my plans really made me resume duty even before the holiday ended. Immediately I was done mapping out the plans, I swung into action, and my swinging to action brought my holiday to an end and the first thing I did was to print my business card and secondly, I printed fliers both soft and hard copy which has been effectively put in good use both online and offline.

Also, immediately I resumed from the holiday, don't forget I said, I brought the holiday to an abrupt end and resumed earlier than all, so, immediately I resumed my own duty as a business woman, I sent broadcast message to all my customers wishing them a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year and this, they all acknowledged and were happy to have received such a message from me. All this I was doing just to prepare the ground for the upcoming business season. Seriously, it was a good thought from my end.

So, on the 6th of January, 2024. When the holiday was over for everyone, I resumed my duty fully and this I did by going physically to the sites to check on the contractors and see to what extent they have used the materials I supplied them last year. Though it was not easy touring all the sites after few weeks being spent at home, but I just have to do so for many reasons which are not far fetched but centered on earnings and making ends meet. All the site I toured. At the site, some have resumed fully, while others are just coming, but i made sure i did the needful, some even asked me to supply them sharp sand and to some granite. All I did perfectly. In fact, it was a good start to the year. I also went to the quarry to asked for the price list of all the products. Some of the prices at the quarry has skyrocketed just because of the economy situation. Thank God I went to the quarry to make the enquiry which later helped me in my transaction with my customers. It was not a easy week at work after the holiday, but I was able to adapt, maybe because of money.

Also, another thing I added to my supplying business after the holiday and at resumption was the sales of cement. During the holiday, I open an account with one of the cement producing company in the country and I also rented a shop where I used as a store . Now, I have also resumed to the shop. So, after touring the sites, I return to the shop to see how sales is going. Though I employed a sales girl to man the shop for me, but still, I have to be there just to see things for myself. The holiday has come and gone and work has started this year. I pray the year will favor us all.
