Is it biblical for Christians to pay tithes?//MCGI Topic Review

Fellow hivians! Calvary greetings and Happy New Week to you all. I have come to share my entry into this week's prompt on payment of tithe. It is true that Christians are to pay tithe, which is the ten percent of their income to the Levites according to the Bible in the book of Hebrew 7:5, which was also quoted in the video I watched by @bro Eli Soriano.

The video by bro Eli also emphasized the fact that the Levi tribe had no inheritance in Israel other than the ten percent paid to them by other tribes. This really called our attention to the main purpose of tithe, which is to provide food for the Levites. No wonder God said in the book of Malachi 3:10, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house... " It is true that God doesn't come down to collect tithe but it is useful for the priests. In fact, failure to pay tithe is a gross disobedience to God's commandment.

Failure to pay tithe also means starving God's servants who labour day and night in the congregation.

In fact, payment of tithe is not only an act of obedience to God, but a surest way to prosperity. The Bible makes it clear in the book of Malachi 3:10b that when we pay our tithe, He would bless us. "...and prove to me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

Little wonder, many people labour like elephants but eat like ants. The difference is always clear when we are obedient. The Bible makes us understand in the book of Haggai, chapter one verse 6, how He blows away people's labour when they fail to bring things into His house. "Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes." Also, the book of Malachi 3:8, "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me.

But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. All these are testament to the fact that God wants us to pay our tithe and we should pay. Paying our tithe is tantamount to doing ourselves a lot of good because we get blessed in doing so.

Thanks for reading.
