Health tips ||Things that matter

Hi guys, Happy Friday to us! I really hope we're doing well. I have come to share with you some physical health tips for our health improvement that we often ignore.

The first and foremost is having a stroll. This implies taking a short walk. We are however so familiar with it that we forget the health benefits. When we walk, our bones get strengthened, and there's easy circulation of blood around our body.

Walking under the morning sun especially, gives us vitamin D which helps our immune system and helps to maintain a healthy blood pressure. Also, strolling or walking in nature: under the trees, close to the songs of birds or strolling around a river bank could aid our mental wellness.

Having a short walk and exposing ourselves to morning sunlight also help us to boost our creativity and be more productive in our daily activities. Generally, taking a stroll helps our cardiovascular health and helps us to sleep well. So, it is not everywhere we board a bus or take a ride to. Short walks are needed for our health.

Another tip for a healthy living is physical engagement. Yes, engaging in physical tasks daily is therapeutic. Many think good health comes from sitting at home and not stressing our body. This is not true. From my research and observation, I realized many become weaker when they do not engage in any physical activities. My mother stopped going to the market to display and sell her wares, some fifteen years ago. She's actually 75 years old now. Since then, she would be at home doing nothing really physical. She has children that send her money.

So, we thought that's enough. She would just wake, eat and sleep again. Sometimes in 2022, she started feeling so sick and weary. She started feeling she would fall, or feeling dizzy at times. So, we took her to hospital and the doctor asked me what her occupation was. I told the doctor, she stopped trading for a while, and we considered it normal because of her age. The doctor told us that's why she was weak. He said we should find something to engage her. Something that will make her move her body or exercise her body.

So, we bought mama some local chickens to rear. She started rearing them at home. She would give them food and clean their cages. She would sell some off, and allow others to lay eggs and hatch. Like magic, the little engagement started working for mama. I don't even know when last she fell sick. So, aside from earning a living from those things we do, it also strengthens us against sickness. Truly, we should engage in physical activities, even when we have everything at her disposal because they are indeed therapeutic. It drives our minds away from worries and anxiety that can weaken us or drive us into depression.

So, having talked about taking a stroll, physical engagement, the last health tip I will talk about is Gratitude journaling. This entails individuals reflecting and writing down the goodness of God in their lives. This will not only take us away from depression but gladden our hearts, reignite our hope and enhance our total wellness.

This is my entry to the hivenaija weekly prompt.

Thanks for reading.
