Que genial que exista una comunidad como esta donde podamos hablar sobre los amigos, esas personas con las que no compartes sangre pero que se vuelven especiales en tu vida.

It's great that there is a community like this where we can talk about friends, those people with whom you don't share blood but who become special in your life.

Hoy quiero contarles que hace dos semanas se graduaron el dúo de Génesis, dos amigas que contra todo pronóstico encontré en los últimos semestres de mi carrera.

Today I want to tell you that two weeks ago, the Genesis duo graduated, two friends whom I met against all odds in the last semesters of my degree.

Cuando me sentía una poco sola porque mis amigas se encontraban en otros semestres o ya se habían graduado ellas llegaron, de forma inesperada (la verdad es que mi historia universitaria fue un poco complicado, vivir unas experiencias te limita de otras). Sin duda logré sobrevivir un poco más a la dinámica del último semestre gracias a ellas, en un par de meses y a través de un grupo de WhatsApp "temporal" (spoiler: 4 meses después sigue existiendo) por fin volví a sentir que dentro de los pasillos de mi escuela, había un espacio, un grupo del cual formar parte.

When I was feeling a little lonely because my friends were in other semesters or had already graduated, they arrived unexpectedly (the truth is that my university experience was a little complicated; some experiences limit you from others). Thanks to them, I was able to survive the dynamics of the last semester a little longer. In a couple of months, through a “temporary” WhatsApp group (spoiler: four months later, it still exists), I finally felt again that within the halls of my school, there was a space, a group to be a part of.

Ojo, no piensen que no tuve amigas/os o compañeras/os con los cuales compartir, claro que si, pero Aimara era alguien que compartía con todos y a la misma vez con nadie, seamos sinceros, en ese punto, los graduandos están más enfocados en vivir la última etapa con sus amigos de carrera que en conseguir nuevos. A pesar de eso, o que nunca imaginé fue que la vida, Dios, el universo o en quien tu creas tenía otros planes.

Hey, don't think that I didn't have friends or classmates to share with, of course I did, but Aimara was someone who shared with everyone and at the same time with no one. Let's be honest, at that point, graduates are more focused on enjoying their last days with their classmates than on making new friends. Despite that, what I never imagined was that life, God, the universe, or whatever you believe in had other plans.

He aquí las recientes Licenciadas en Estudios Internacionales, que por fortuna puedo llamar amigas, de las que por cierto, me encuentro muy orgullosa, graduarse de la universidad no es fácil, eso todo el mundo lo sabe, y me consta, que estas dos profesionales lo dieron todo por ese titulo. Lastimosamente, por problemitas que surgen en el camino, no pude tener mi acto con ellas, pero puedo decir que viví con ellas cada segundo, desde el pago de aranceles, la elección de los vestidos hasta convertirme en la fotógrafa de esos días especiales, al final los logros de tus amigos son también tus logros.

Here are the recent graduates in International Studies, whom I am fortunate to call my friends and of whom I am very proud. Graduating from university is not easy, as everyone knows, and I can attest that these two professionals gave their all to earn their degrees. Unfortunately, due to some issues that arose along the way, I was unable to attend their ceremony, but I can say that I lived every second with them, from paying tuition fees and choosing dresses to becoming the photographer for those special days.In the end, your friends' achievements are also your achievements.

En este poco tiempo hemos reído, llorado, apoyado y consolado en todo lo que hemos podido, Aimara, ha sido Aimara, sin disfraces, 100% genuina e intento que ellas también sientan esa confianza conmigo, creo que lo he logrado, por ejemplo Génesis morada (las distingo por color del cabello) me ha regalado aguacates de la mata de su casa, así que creo que me quiere (En Venezuela el aguacate es como un tesoro).

In this short time, we have laughed, cried, supported, and comforted each other as much as we could. Aimara has been Aimara, without pretense, 100% genuine, and I try to make them feel that trust with me too. I think I have succeeded. For example, Genesis Morada (I distinguish them by hair color) has given me avocados from the tree at her house, so I think she loves me (in Venezuela, avocados are like treasure).

De aquí en adelante, espero que nuestra amistad siga creciendo, que nos sigamos conociendo y disfrutando de los momentos que nos regale la vida en esta nueva etapa para seguir celebrando esta amistad bien rara y espontánea, ¿así suceden las mejores cosas, no?.

From now on, I hope that our friendship continues to grow, that we continue to get to know each other and enjoy the moments that life gives us in this new stage, so that we can continue celebrating this rare and spontaneous friendship. That's how the best things happen, right?

Y para ti, que me estas leyendo y que quizás te has sentido solito como yo, se paciente y déjate sorprender, las luces aparecen cuando menos lo esperas, o cuando no lo esperabas en absoluto, y cuando eso llegue vive el momento y hazle saber a esas personas lo mucho que valoras que estén en tu vida y formar parte de la vida de ellas.

And for you, who are reading this and who may have felt lonely like me, be patient and let yourself be surprised. The light appears when you least expect it, or when you weren't expecting it at all, and when that happens, live in the moment and let those people know how much you value them being in your life and being part of theirs.
