Fried Breads || Panes Fritos [ENG/ESP]

Recipe to make fried breads.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup of water (you may need a little more or less)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough:

    • In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking powder.
    • Add the water little by little while mixing, until a soft and homogeneous dough is formed. Knead for a few minutes until the dough is elastic and does not stick to your hands.
  2. Form the loaves:

    • Divide the dough into small portions and form balls.
    • Flatten each ball with your hands or a rolling pin until you have discs about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Fry the bread:

    • Heat the oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
    • When the oil is hot, fry the dough discs one or two at a time, depending on the size of your pan.
    • Fry each disc for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
    • Remove the fried breads with a slotted spoon and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  4. Serve:

    • Serve the fried breads hot. You can accompany them with honey, jam, sugar, or even with salty ingredients such as cheese or sauce.

Receta para hacer panes fritos.

Ingredientes

  • 2 tazas de harina de trigo
  • 1 cucharadita de sal
  • 1 cucharadita de polvo de hornear
  • 1/2 taza de agua (puedes necesitar un poco más o menos)
  • Aceite para freír

Instrucciones

  1. Preparar la masa:

    • En un bol grande, mezcla la harina, la sal y el polvo de hornear.
    • Agrega el agua poco a poco mientras mezclas, hasta formar una masa suave y homogénea. Amasa durante unos minutos hasta que la masa esté elástica y no se pegue a las manos.
  2. Formar los panes:

    • Divide la masa en pequeñas porciones y forma bolitas.
    • Aplana cada bolita con las manos o un rodillo hasta obtener discos de aproximadamente 1/4 de pulgada de grosor.
  3. Freír los panes:

    • Calienta el aceite en una sartén profunda a fuego medio-alto.
    • Cuando el aceite esté caliente, fríe los discos de masa uno o dos a la vez, dependiendo del tamaño de tu sartén.
    • Fríe cada disco por unos 2-3 minutos de cada lado, o hasta que estén dorados y crujientes.
    • Retira los panes fritos con una espumadera y colócalos sobre papel absorbente para eliminar el exceso de aceite.
  4. Servir:

    • Sirve los panes fritos calientes. Puedes acompañarlos con miel, mermelada, azúcar, o incluso con ingredientes salados como queso o salsa.
