RE: Picture a Day - Evening Prayer

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

The world is a funny place. The Muslim population is quite large, and observant. When there are services, there is actually a traffic jam around the mosque.

That is a sad picture, and yet so heartening. These men, devoted, practice their faith no matter the circumstances.

That's a great shot. Captures a moment in time and tells a story.

hehe. yes, true. but exceptions happen.

I once witnessed an interesting street scene - the street traffic (pedestrians) looked very unusual, there were many eastern faces, and some were even running! it was a friday afternoon, in the area of the Market on Sennaya Square. later I learned that on that day Muslims celebrated Big Friday - I forgot what it was called exactly - basically, a monthly big prayer that they are not allowed to miss.

probably it was "just Friday" but for muslims Friday is a "mini-celebration day" & it even has a pray with it's name "Friday" that's the 2nd of 5 of that day & can only be made in a relatively large group & that it's better than praying alone- hence they were running not to miss the group "not because they aren't allowed to miss it but to the previously mentioned believes", so probably you will see the same scene each Friday afternoon in places with a relatively large muslim population

You (again) found words better than me! "tells a story" and sad - thats exactly what I feel about it, and why I liked this, pretty trivial from many points of view, image. 😃
