politicians want power and will do whatever it takes to get it. They don't mind collateral damage.

The masses aren't interested in well structured conversations about the issues pervading their society because those tend to have very little impact on our dopamine receptors. Sensationalism is the way and people only want to hear extreme views.

Maybe a little too general here. I don't know who the masses are. Surely on the edges people are looking for red meat, for something to get angry about. But I think a lot of people crave the middle. It's just that we don't have leaders in the middle, or if they do exist they are drowned out by the edges.
