Social media or the telecommunication media generally has greatly afforded people the opportunity to get informed, entertained and advertise their products. Without an oita of doubt, social media has done a lot of good to man.

However, when it comes to young minds- the minors who do not know how to distinguish right from wrong, information on social media should be censored both by the promoters; platforms, content creators dishing out those information, entertainment and advertisement and the parents of the minors watching and getting entertained. They all have the responsibility to censor the contents, while balancing that responsibility with the minors' freedom of association and expression.

Sometime ago, I saw a video of a little boy who was asked what he would like to become in future. He replied "I would like to be a killer". This shocked the interviewer and she asked him "A killer, why would you like to be a killer?". He just said He likes to kill everybody. This was heartbreaking. Further questions into the interview shows that He watched it from the Television and enjoys "how someone just kills everybody". No matter how the interviewer tried to see if he would change his mind, he said "I would like to be a killer".

PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONTENTS

Most TV stations give age limits and warnings at the commencement of a program, which are often written boldly on the screen throughout the program. Sometimes it comes as an announcement warning

the following program is rated a particular age limit. parental advice or viewers secretion is needed.

Social media too has measures that restrict access to mature contents. NSFW is used to indicate contents that are safe for minors to engage in. We also have remote controls used to watch TV channels that offer parental control options where a click on some buttons can block kids' access to some channels or stations. Inspite of the foregoing, our busy schedule and life's hassles I believe, have not allow some parents to properly monitor or filter their kids media consumption.

More so, parents should mind what they watch in the presence of children. The minors- depending on their age, can be limited to kids channels, channels showing what they can learn from nature or even educational channels. When parents watch some immoral movies and believe they will fast-forward the romance and sex scenes, the minors already know what those actors are doing in the fast-forwarded scenes. The best is just to avoid those movies completely and allow them access to what can impact positively on their lives. Some parents may prevent them from watching immoral films, how about the ones promoting violence, killings, wrestling and so many things not impactful?

PARENTAL GUIDE IS LOVING
Parents can also check to know what their minors are watching in their rooms: especially those who fix televisions, computer or Playstation in children 's room. They can place the computers connected to the Internet in an open part of the house where anyone can always see what the minors are doing online.

Some games- which many minors spend more time on- can impact negatively on them too. Parents should not just be satisfied with "am just playing game" or " it's just a cartoon". Those too should be censored.

Although It is important for bloggers, content creators, singers, movie directors, platforms etc to censor what they put out for public consumption, it is imperative to note they these want to make profit. It is their business, they want to make money, drive traffic and get likes and followers. Censoring what they give to the public may not be a paramount concern to them, despite some measures in place. They know some viewers even prefer such contents.

Therefore, the onus lie mostly on parents and guardians to guide , control, monitor and censor what their minors watch. A child let lose will cause the Mother shame, thus says the holy book. So if any parent does not want the child to grow up become wild, loose and uncontrollable because of what he has learnt from uncensored channels and platforms, now is the time to tame them and teach them other beneficial things they can learn from social media and other amazing ways they can be entertained.

This is my response to @hive-learners prompt for this week's second edition. Let me know your opinion on the topic and other tips you have used to guide your young ones. Do have a lovely day.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate.

Still your girl,
@adoore-eu.

Parents have a whole lot to do when it comes to their kids. The most vital role is to make sure they know what their kids are up to. Leaving a kid to play games, watch some certain movies that they aren’t suppose to see shouldn’t be what acceptable.
Thanks for sharing

Unfortunately, a lot of parents and adults in our country doesn't mind what the kids are watching in the social media and playing.
I once scolded my nephews for playing GTA on their gaming console, their aunt, who paid for those games got mad at me.

The dream of the boy who wanted to be an assassin reminded me that platforms have a great influence on young people. Here in my country, when asked what a child wants to be when they grow up, many of them say they want to be an influencer (tiktoker or youteber). In China, where these platforms are controlled and young people only have access to educational videos on science and education, when asked the same question Chinese children say they want to be scientists.

I support your points. Parents have the responsibility to teach and guide or even prohibit their kids from watching certain contents.
