Time wasted is life wasted
Have you ever sat down to ask yourself, “Am I really using my time well, or am I just wasting it?” Many of us say we are busy every day, but at the end of the day, we still feel like we have not achieved much. Sometimes, it is not because we do not have enough time, but because we do not use our time well.
I used to think I was busy, but when I checked how I spent my day, I realized I was procrastinating a lot. I would tell myself, “I will do it later,” and later would turn into the next day. This made my work pile up, and I felt stressed. I learned that procrastination steals our time slowly without us noticing.
Do you think 24 hours in a day is enough or not for you to accomplish your activities for that day? The truth is, 24 hours is enough if we plan and use it wisely. It may not be easy, but having a clear plan can help. I started making a simple to-do list the night before. I write down the top three important things I must do, and I focus on finishing them first before other things. This helped me see that I actually have time to do other things too.
When I finish my daily schedule, I use the extra time to rest, read a book, or do something that makes me happy, like taking a walk or talking to a friend. Sometimes, I learn a new skill online or watch educational videos to improve myself. It feels good to know that I am not just wasting my time but using it to grow, to discover myself and to make amendment to my past mistake.
There is things I see as a waste of my time, and I am learning to avoid them. Spending too much time scrolling on social media, watching videos that add nothing to my life, or gossiping with friends about things that do not matter are some of them. This activities take our time and leave us with nothing in return. I am not saying you should not have fun, but it is important to know when to stop and move on to something more meaningful.
If you feel like you never have enough time, check how you are spending your day, your week, your month and this leads to how your spend your year. Track your activities for one day and see where your time is going. You might find out that you spend hours on things that are not important. When you cut down on these time wasting activities, you will find that 24 hours is more than enough to do what you need to do.
In the end, time is life. The way we use our time determines what our life will look like in the future. Let us learn to use our time wisely so that we can live a life we will be proud of.
