The Urgent Need For Birth Control Regulation In Nigeria
Children are precious gifts from God. Procreation started at creation when God said we should increase, multiply, and subdue the earth. Many have abused this statement by giving birth to countless number of children they can't cater for. I believe that in everything in life, there must be a balance. How do you explain a family who has 10 children and can't even cater for two out of those children, That is so disheartening.
The idea of government regulating the number of kids a family could have is a good idea. This helps in controlling overpopulation and also helps in making a social plan that makes life conducive for each citizen. Countries that have implemented such laws have recorded economic development and societal advancement as a result of this act.
In a country like Nigeria, where no rules and regulations are controlling the number of children a family can give birth to, we can see how it affects the level of our economy. The population of the country kept on increasing day by day without any sign of economic development or advancement. Yet, Citizens kept on giving birth to children they can't cater for, which end up becoming a problem to the society.
I have seen a family where it was so hard for both the father and the mother to make ends meet and yet they keep giving birth each year. They now have 6 children while the wife is still pregnant with another child. How about about a family who have 15 children and all the children are suffering as a result of inadequate resources to cater for them. Imagine that, Do we also blame the government for this, while giving birth to children to make them suffer in life. Due to ignorance and illiteracy, many believe giving birth to countless children is a way of expressing God's blessing, which is not.
I believe that while having children, there must be adequate planning. It's not about giving birth to countless number of children, but it's about giving them a quality life so that they won't be a problem to the society in the future.
We have many children and youth within the country who are wasting away as a result of lack of proper care from their parents. Some children go to the extent of begging on the street while some end up becoming hooligans, thugs, arm robbers, and more, which is militating the development of our country.

For societal development, it will be a good thing if regulations based on bath control and number of kids to have is been implemented and made a law in Nigeria. The law should ensure that maximum number of children a family can have is three children. This law will enhance the easy circulation of social amenities and it will assist economic planning. I believe for our economy to become advanced, the aspect of birth control should be looked into by the government and I believe through this and proper governance, Nigeria will be a better place for us as a whole.
Those who grow up in these large families with economic problems are creating a cycle that can only be broken by one of these individuals when they come of age and decide to do things differently. Education is very important to achieve this. Greetings @adedoyin-g
